Well I’m very new to photography, and I’ve taken those two pictures on a 4 megapixel Sony Digicam. I’ve been looking online trying to do some research about whic camera would best suit my needs. My budget is about £150-£300 (max!!!) and i don’t know whether to get a digital compact camera or a SLR camera. I think if I went for SLR then I’d have to go for a 2nd hand one, which is perfectly fine with me. I’ve noticed this site: http://www.mifsuds.com sell secondhand – i noticed a Nikon D70S there, but body only, no lens. Do you think this is a good buy? And what lens should i buy with that? Please advise or let me know if you know of any other 2nd hand shops where i can pick up a good camera. Cheers in advance.. Ciaranx

Well i bought my camera in January and didnt have much chance to go and take some photos -mainly due to other commitments such as work and Uni. I decided to head down to Bournemouth Beach, which is a mere 10 min walk, and try and take some pics…you can see the results on my portofolio. I got the chance to see the snowdrops at Kingston Lacy also…and i must say that i was very self-conscious at first, carrying my camera around…..i felt like a bit of a geek?! I soon got into the swing of things and couldnt help but SNAP SNAP SNAP!!!! / I was disappointed in myself for not asking a young couple if i could take their picture. The were dressed in a fashionable manner and looked really good together…i did walk buy them twice, but i just couldn’t pluck up the courage to ask them…i’m disappointed with myself and therefore i have set myself a task to ask one person if i could take their pic the next time i am out and about!!!! I shall report back when i do this….eeek!! Also, i did take over 100 photos this week, and i was amazing to see that actually i only thought 4/5 of them were good enough to be placed on here…It’s funny that. Am i usual in doing so? Out of say 100 pictures how many would you keep? Ta for now, All the best, Ciaran xxx

As all of you UK peeps are aware, we had an earthquake the other night. / It was all over the telly news yesterday. / People were making out that it cost 10 million worth of damage, yeah right whatever, only 2 houses were reported damaged & a couple of roads & cars lol Anyways I was awake and on here when you the place started shaking. / I mean compared to places like Japan or Mexico or the States, it was like a minor tremor, but you know people , they always make a mountain out of a molehill & have to exaggerate things!!!! Well it was reported to be the biggest Earth Tremor felt in this country for 30 years, ok. so they got that bit right! Well I’ve just discovered a piece of writing written by a mate on another site, and because it was so funny, I just had to put it on here….......... So for all you’s people who like to have a laugh, here it is…........ / Feel free to leave your comments! Thanks Tina Another earthquake. This time in Portsmouth. / Body: An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the richter scale hit Portsmouth this morning. The epicentre was in Paulsgrove. Casualties were seen wandering aimlessly ,one man spotted wandering was found saying “bang out of order” “mental” and “sorted”. The earthquake decimated the area causing in excess of £17.55 worth of damage. Several priceless collections of mementos from Ibiza and Corfu were damaged beyond repair. Three preserved areas of historic importance where burned out cars were destroyed, were wrecked. Many locals were woken before their giro’s arrived. One resident, Kylie Sharon Smith, a 15 year old mother of four said, “It was such a fucking shock, little Chardonnay-Destiny came running into my bedroom crying, my hands were shaking that much I could hardly skin-up”. The British Red Cross has so far managed to send 4000 crates of Sunny Delight to the area to help with the crisis. Rescue workers are still searching through the rubble and have found numerous ‘Elizabeth Duke’ sovereign rings, benefit books and Poundstretcher ornaments. HOW CAN YOU HELP? This appeal hopes to raise money for food and clothing parcels for those unfortunate enough to be caught up in the disaster. Clothing is most sought after. Urgently needed are LaCoste tracksuits, white socks, Burberry caps, Beanie hats and Reebok trainers. Food parcels are also needed. They include McCain oven chips, Aldi beans, Monster Munch and Iceland pizza. Alcohol is also in short supply, especially White Lightening Cider and Special Brew. Cash donations are also needed.22p buys a ‘signing on’ biro, £2.50 buys a Jumbo Sausage Dinner, £20.00 buys a fake MOT and £16.00 buys 200 Regal from the back of Tommo’s lorry. Your help is appreciated.

Rite guys on a positive note…........ / Its the Dorest Arts Week, coming up shortly….... i need to find out more about this, so there is a meeting at a local pub near to me this Wednesday, in the evening & i am going to attend, to see if I can get some of my work exhibited…..... There is also an opportunity for maybe some lucky people to get their work exhibited in my new studio or a local shop near to me….. / But thats a little bit in the future for now….... But if that goes ahead, I will be asking only a couple of artists to participate in this with me. It does mean you will have to provide all your own artwork / product, as I cannot afford to fund getting your work made up, but if you can provide me with an equisite canvas then it will certainly get your name advertised to Joe public once I begin this work. The details on this, can be found here: / DAW Tina

Hi everyone, I feel the need to moan (who doesn’t, lol)...I’m getting frustrated over the lack of sales from this site. Is this something that you’ve encountered: and how did you get over it? Please don’t think of me as arrogant but I don’t believe for a second that i’m the world’s greatest photographer but I do think that some of my pics would make lovely greeting cards or canvas’. It just seems that views of my portfolio dont equal sales…what do I have to do to get one? Grrrrrr…... Maybe I’m too focused on getting that a sale – kind of like the bloke in the pub/club who is desperate to pull someone that others can sense it and back off? Am i that guy? lol. I suppose selling a card/print isn’t the be all and end all but I can imagine the sens of excitement when you log on a see that you’ve sold a print…...wonderful! Anywho’s just a quick rant. I hope someone has got some handy hints or advice for me… Be lucky, Ciaran

Wow…this is my first feature and I’m so pleased that Hallway was featured in The Buyers Club / What a nice way to start a dull winter’s day!! Thanks to the two hosts of that group Michael J Armijo and Arlene Zapata Being featured is such a good feeling and really gives me the chance to promote my work, so fingers crossed that Hallway gets a few more views and perhaps that elusive sale?!! Have a great Christmas everyone and be lucky in 2009. Best wishes, Ciarán
