In a Paris market, France
Took this at my best friend’s wedding last year, this was her bouquet….isn’t it lovely and perfect bunch of roses? :-)
Flowers after Rain.
In white they wait – not faces but flower stalks. / Not veils but petals. The silent brides are coming – so pure.
On Sunday, Charlie and I were walking gazing at the splendor of the flowers that lined a street in Benedict Canyon, Los Angeles. I was mesmerized by the beauty and variety of color, texture, type and fragrance of these magnificent blooms. Charlie was not only an observer, but choose a beautiful bouquet of flowers to give to me as a gift. There are so many wonderful things in nature to share that can not be bought since they can only come from the heart. “Flowers leave some of their fragrance in the hand that bestows them.” / Chinese Proverb /

/ / Framed Print Sweet Rosie / made from paper, pencils, charcoal, marker pen and stuff like that :) Here is a new one from my “Connections” series, all done with lots of dry media. This one is about the connection we have with our loved ones, roses always speak volumes about beauty, love, romance…......and wanting to connect…...what happens we we give and receive roses, why do we give and receive them…..it’s really sentimental stuff…..ahh where would we be without all that roses say for us, through us, about us, to others :) I hope you like my “Sweet Rosie”.....these roses are for you :)

/ / Maid of Honour is usually a close friend or relative of the bride, who becomes her confidante and right hand help during the months leading up the wedding day and on the big day itself. I hope you like her. When my husband saw this, he said / she took my breath away. reminds me of the first time I saw you .breath takingly beautiful / it just doesn’t get better than that :) xx This started off as a pencil drawing I did a couple of months ago, I’ve since coloured her in digitally. Makes a nice thank you card from the bride, or just a pretty gift card or print for a girlfriend or your sweetheart.

A bouquet of roses, shot in available light, and converted to mono. / Vignette added. Nikon D50, 50mm f1.8 lens
This bouquet spells summer for me. All the dahlias are heirlooms and are reliably available from only one source in commerce at present: Old House Gardens in Ann Arbor, MI. These beauties include ‘Princess de Suede’, ‘Kaiser Wilhelm’, and ‘Old Gold’, and mix happily with the wonderful, genuine article, Lily ‘White Henryi’, also from Old House. If not for this bulb company’s admirable mission to preserve historic flower bulbs, many antique plant treasures would no longer be found in the marketplace and might never find a home in your garden. Cooling things down just a bit in this photograph is the classic of summertime, a bigleaf hydrangea.
