After I lost 15 trees as a result of Hurricane Gustav, I started replanting trees in my yard. One of them is a lovely crabapple tree. It’s a young baby, but it’s already sprouting beautiful blossoms. This is a bough from my new crabapple tree.

This little bough of purple flowers seemed to go nicely with an old Irish Blessing, a favorite prayer of mine for a long time now.

Bridal wreath is one of those spring flowers that are just enchanting. Mini bouquets of tiny white florets (thanks, Krys) interspersed along long willowy branches, these little beauties are a welcome sight as winter fades and spring greets us with her sunny blue skies.

The yellow rump warbler has a wonderfully sweet song so it is fitting to include it with the Chinese proverb which reassures, “If I keep a green bough in my heart, the singing bird will come,” a beautifully lyrical way of saying we must never let go of hope! (And, since green is the color of hope, the metaphor, green bough, is right on the money!)
