Sunflowers are magical, especially when they are caught in great light, this is one image of mine which I have always been very happy with, the way the light shines through the petals….I wonder what it would say if it could speak… —-—-—-—-—-—-—— See more on my website jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. www.glennalderson.com I took this photo whilst in Wittunga Botanic Gardenes, South Australia / Phylica Pubescens – Featherhead / Origin: South Africa / This attractive bush is densely covered with hairy leaves and each hair seems to gather the sunlight and make it glow. These flowers are white with long brownish tips and have a faint cinnamon scent. / / PLEASE VIEW MY GALLERY @ Glenn Alderson Photography Abstract Sunrise & Sunset Ruins & Derelict Buildings Farms & Countryside All Seascapes Botany – Flora Childhood Black & White Birds & Creatures of Flight / © Copyright 2008 Glenn Alderson, All Rights Reserved. / Please note: The watermark shown above will not appear on purchased products.

This is a small “slice” of my mother’s garden; she is a master gardener. Anything she plants thrives beautifully, and my father is just as good as she is. He saves watermelon and tomato seeds when he eats at restaurants, dries them, plants them, and harvests a good crop later on. What a wonder my parents are; truly their hearts are in the garden.

On May 7, 2009, this image placed in the top ten of the Flowers challenge in the Retired and Happy group. This tiny white bloom was one of several that appeared in my garden this year. Nestled among common blue flax, I almost did not see it. Yes, I was belly down to get this shot and was so surprised to see that the back side of the petals are green! Since I have no name for this unexpected little beauty, I chose viridis as the title which is the Latin word for green.
