Waxy white beauty berries (Callicarpa species) ripening on a slender branch. Nature hedges her bets, not allowing all the seeds in the berries to ripen at once. Where one seed may fail, a later one may succeed. Photograph by Betty Mackey.

As per the title, this is a ‘Cairns Birdwing’ butterfly (male I believe). I loved the colour and also the fact that he’s actually quite large (think length of your hand from fingertip to wrist). Enjoy!

Very little alteration, just natural state, some crop and a very tiny adjustment to darken background. The colors on the wings are very interesting Nikon D200 / Nikon 70-300 G series zoom
This is one of three paintings I was commissioned to create for a large insurance brokerage. The original paintings are 32” x 32” and were done with my first son, who was two months old at the time, bouncing on my knee. See the Impressionist influence? Original ptg: 32” x 32” / acrylic on canvas private collection
Illustration produced for the mens lifestyle magazine GQ. www.archann.net
