hey red bubblers. I was thinking it’d be fun to have a sydney catch up. Take photos, do our own creative venture. meet say, at the botanic gardens-it’s a bit safe, but there’s plenty of nature and monuments and it could always change, or be somewhere else next time. the big question: weekday or weekend? I venture wednesday week, 10am because I have to earn a living later in the day. What say you?

To all who came along, it was a great day and for some reason I took all these shots on black and white, Thank god it wasn’t set on sepia tone. I have uploaded a collage of the images from the day. The people who came along, I did turn up later so I apologise to those I didn’t get a photo of. / / Have a look at them all a bit larger here If anyone has any good suggestions for hosting of images, I would be interested in knowing it as well.

Thanks to everyone who came along to the Red Bubble (Melbourne) Botanical Gardens Meet on Sunday 19th August, for your company. / I just wanted to say that I had been up since 8pm Saturday, so if I seemed a bit subdued that might have had something to do with it. / To the people I didn’t talk to, I hope we meet next time.

SaharaBelle is a new member to RB, but not much of a writer. Because I like her work (both in the kitchen :D and with a camera), I’m showing you some her amazing photography. Thankfully SaharaBelle made a few comments during the upload process – so I’ll divulge these with you. Basically, this post serves as an easy way for our family and friends to quickly see all the cards of her amazing photography. There will be more soon. In fact, some of my collection will moving across. Yes, I took credit for her work … with her permission! But now she is a member, she wants them back. Anyway, here are all the cards of our recent visit to the Wittunga National Park. I encourage people to leave nice comments on her work. Or critique’s. We’re always looking for extra help on how to take a better photograph! You might recognise this photograph! I cropped this one to a square image to make her avatar. I love this photograph … it’s so vibrant and almost blinding! What do you think?! / “This one will make a great Christmas card!”. Her words after this uploaded. / I suggested this shot – because she had the Macro-lens. It turned out a lot better than I ever expected. It helps that SaharaBelle made sure the blue sky was in the background of these shots, thereby allowing a lot more light to come through the ‘field of focus’. / Nice shadows in this one. The yellow stamen look like antenna … don’t they? / Hehe, nature’s feather duster! I suspect it would leave more pollen than it would remove! / I just love how this is the colours of the Australian flag! / This little bee is getting his money’s worth of nectar… / It took a while to think of a suitable title. But this choice works well. / Sometimes the title’s are just so apt. Yet come out of nowhere. / I originally suggested “Toilet Brush”, but apparently my humor was NOT appropriate. / I’m sure you can see why this title was chosen. This little bee probably wasn’t imprisoned at all, but they do look like bars around his face! / This is a flower in the process of blooming. When we return next weekend, I hope to capture these in full bloom! / Hehe, this little guy was filling up like a car at the petrol-pump! I’m sure he saw the camera coming toward him, but just had to get that nectar! / This amazing shot was incredibly lucky. With a dedicated macro lens, she was going to shoot just the flower … but found the little black bug inside. / This amazing little bee was sticking his face straight into the flower, digging all the nectar out. / We think this was an ant, but not real sure! He was swimming around the nectar, presumably doing the anty-paddle (doggy paddle, get it?!). / Here is that bee again. This was the last time we saw this guy before he flew back to the hive… / SaharaBelle tells me this is her favourite shot, and I agree. The detail in those wings is outstanding! / But this is not the end! SaharaBelle and I have plans for more day-trips, even with the SA Central group later this year! SaharaBelle and I hope you all (wink wink at friends and family!) like these cards enough to purchase a few.

After quite a hectic, long day, I was finally able to check in on RB at 9:30 pm tonight and absolutely tickled pink to discover that for the first time one of my photos has been featured on the RB homepage!! Thank you RB!! I literally yelled out to my husband, “Pete, come over here quick! Look, look!” This particular photo, Red Tulips & Barn was taken during our 5 year wedding anniversary trip to the Berkshires Botanical Gardens (Massachusetts) last May and this shot was his idea. He said, “honey, I think this old barn with tulips would make some great photos. You should check it out.” This isn’t the first time he’s given me some great “inspiration” – he picked out that Yellow Rose that seems to be so popular. I guess we make a good team. I also want to thank Caren Schwartz for featuring this photo in the Spring & Summer in the North-East USA group. Caren has repeatedly been a supporter of my photography and I really appreciate it. Thanks, RB, for making my day :) / -Jenn

If you want to take a quick peek a the lovely flowers they featured together for the current theme, see Featured work and, at this time, it is still visible as you click on the link. at the top of the page. I have been in “Swamped-ville” for several weeks and needed to delay my journal to let you know how excited I was to see this second-time feature for “Pentagonal hibiscus”. Thanks so much to the hosts, Beth Lambert and Polarity Photo! I also have pretty greatly surpassed my 10,000 views milestone; have pretty much left that in my wake, at this point. However, I didn’t pass any speed limits as I have been a member since June, but turtles also arrive at their destinaiton with a little persistence! Pentagonal hibiscus (card on black background) or click here for larger view,,, Thanks all you wonderful moderators and artists for your support and have a Happy Valentine”s Day! If you are interested in taking a Sunday walk with your camera, I will be at the Wittunga Botanic Gardens tomorrow (Sunday, 28.June.2009) from midday till late afternoon. The gardens are great for photography of flowers, bees, ducks, magpies, crows, humans, plus many different South African plants that are often mistaken for South Australian. If you are interested, bring your macro lens and lightest-tripod! Meet you near the Rotunda that can be seen near the lake as you enter thru the left entrance. I’ll be wearing a warm woollen beanie (and carrying a blue rain-coat) and wielding a camera! Where? Shepherd’s Hill Road, Blackwood

It was an awakening to receive the email notification of “Harmony’s Path” being purchased by someone from the states, North Carolina. Not every day do artists on line get such good news, and the same image being selected twice is even more exciting. So I hope/pray the buyer receives an excellent print times 2 of the scene taken in Bellevue Botanical Gardens, in Bellevue Washington, USA before I moved to Saint-Malo France. Yes, I certainly hope Imagekind handles the matter with professionalism, and best of care. elf
