Textural mixed medium image of a simple pressed flower on an abstract background.
This is a ruby red lacewing butterfly, and the way it had it’s proboscis inserted into the flower made me think of that moment when we first get a nice thick milkshake, and we are sucking hard on the straw, fighting against the frozen delight to extract it’s sweet creaminess!

Every year around the end of March till the mid of April Washington DC is pretty in pink. Everywhere you go you see these beautiful cherry blossoms in bloom. These trees were in fact a gift from the Japanesse back in 1912. When I saw these blossoms they were so delicate I wanted that to come across in the shot. The photograph had many flowers in the shot, pink petals everywhere but the emphasis and just how soft and light these petal where wasn’t coming through to my liking. Hence, I thought the method of selective coloring would do it better justice.

Visited the Botanical Garden this am and found this really unusual Tree, these are the Flowers, the stem and trunk are covered in spikey bits. The fruit is as large as coconuts and similar looking though without husks, hence the name Cannonball, apparently they are edible but the smell puts People off. / The Flowers smell lovely. / The Trees are grown from seeds and originally came from South America. Simply put … daisies are my favorite flower so this photo was done a little selfishly just for me! Taken with Canon Powershot I have also used this photograph as a design for a business card, which I have been selling through my Zazzle account.
