December 2007, I was asked by friends, who were expecting their first child out here in Riyadh to capture the pregnancy in my own unique way… A trip out to the desert followed and the rest, as they say, is history. Nearly 6 months after the arrival of little Kennedy, we were back out at the desert yesterday re-shooting, plus One! With searing temperatures reaching into the 40s first thing in the morning over here in summer, this was a shoot that lasted all of 15 minutes… I’ve never clicked so furiously at my shutter and bare feet have never gotten so hot!
Imagine being born again. Only this time your mother is the earth and you come fully equipped with memories, knowledge and a belief system. What raw emotions are evoked when the first thing you are confronted with is an environment completely foreign to what you were expecting? / Fear, confusion, doubt and loneliness. / Or because of the new environment one may lose their inhibitions, feel joy or perhaps discover inner strength and courage. I found a Comma caterpillar, brought it home and fed it nettles. It pupated and for the past 2 days, there has been great agitation from the chrysalis. Today, Tuesday September 9, 2008, the beautiful butterfly was born. / I knew the underwing was exquisite, but I’ve never seen the “verdigris” before. The comma for which it is named is clearly shown. / After several hours, it became very agitated and reluctantly, I released it into a buddleia where it took shelter from the rain. / Please view him large, he’s worth it. / 090908 / SH50cul cropgg-flash / 090908 This sky where we live / Is no place to lose your wings. / So love, love, love. / Hafiz حافظ Human beings are members of a whole, / In creation of one essence and soul. / If one member is afflicted with pain, / Other members uneasy will remain. / If you have no sympathy for human pain, / The name of human you cannot retain. / Saadi “Of one Essence is the human race, / thus has Creation put the base; / One Limb impacted is sufficient / For all Others to feel the Mace ” / —Saadi (1184–1283) “There is only one sacred manuscript, the sacred manuscript of Nature, which alone can enlighten the reader.” Hazrat Inayat Khan All profits from my sales will be donated to Butterfly Conservation. Missy, a chestnut Miniature Pony, caring for her new born filly foal. Many foals are born during the night, but this one arrived in the late afternoon/early evening and I was priviledged to be present to not only witness, but also photograph the ever new miracle of the birth of a beautiful foal. I was actually on my way, that day, to photograph the young Kookaburras in the late afternoon light, when I noticed Missy lying down, about to give birth. I forgot the Kookaburras and spent the next couple of hours photographing the whole birth process, the mare cleaning her foal, the foal’s struggles to get to her feet and stay on them and eventually, her first drink. The baby Nyala turned 3 days old yesterday. He stood about 15 feet away from me. The mother left and hid behind the bushes, but he stayed and looked at me. I went down on my knees, so as not to frighten him. As I started to take a photo of him, he turned and started running towards me and that just finished me. I was absolutely stunned. I dropped the camera into my lap and reached out my hand towards him. It was so awesome to have this beautiful little creature sniffing my hand, before going to look for his mom. After he had walked away from me, he still kept looking at me. / Next to the birth of my daughter, this was an experience I had wished for all my life. / How trusting, innocent and beautiful. It is the way it should be between man and animals. “I’m 3 days Old” was featured in The Scavenger Hunt on / 8 Jun 2009 “I’m 3 days Old” was featured in PEACE, LOVE & TRANQUILITY on 8 Jun 2009

In the not too distant future, we may have beings who are not born as we are. They may be those born of science from birthing vats. How will those beings be treated by humankind? As slaves or as objects to be owned and treated as pleased? Will these beings have feelings as we do? Or will they be simply a machine? Will this type of machine have beliefs? Something to think about. :o) Created in Apophysis 7X. Postwork in Photoshop to create composite image. The face is from a photo I took and combined with the fractal image by turning the head of a statue and transforming/warping to get the perspective I needed. 11/17/09 ~ Featured in Rural Around the Globe ~ Thank you BigD!!! :o) When I see a Bald Eagle in flight my first thought is freedom…. so I named this photo “Born Free”. I spent the morning with fellow Redbubblers Mike Rucci and BigD at the Conowingo Hydroelectric Dam in Maryland. It’s an amazing hot spot for Bald Eagles and photographers (with BIG lenses). Unfortunately, the hydroelectric dam was inactive and the weather was dreary so there wasn’t a lot of Eagle activity. Since I only have a 300mm lens, this is the only photo I salvaged from my visit. / See Mike’s Eagle photos he has some great shots!! It was very overcast and gray…. so I enhanced the color in photoshop. The weather forecast is looking better for Sunday…. so maybe I’ll be back!!! / Taken 11/14/09 at the Conowingo Dam, Conowingo, Maryland

Not long ago, on a weekend evening, my hubbie and I were watching documentaries about Johnny Cash in BBC2. Eventually, very late in the am, there it came the clip of ’’Hurt’’. If I could start again / a million miles away / I would keep myself / I would find a way 7 years ago I decided I wanted to start again. / And now I am many miles away from that place where I made my decission. / And I’ve kept myself. / And I found my way. I often think about how I came here naked and pretty beat up. My life was not working. Through Art I got a sense of feeling again I connected to my Source aka.. Nipple.. (tehee) / When I connected to Source, I was able to reach out and allow others back into my world again thus I created or Allowed … Community. RB Community is practice all the time for me to go outside my door and become more, become a part of my world around me. Sometimes I feel being here is like proving grounds; that if I can do it here, connect and love, I can do this feeling and knowing …anywhere. I sure do love you. / Linaji / 2009 Mandala’s Nipple /
