Loch of the Lowes lies in the beautiful scottish borders between Moffat and Selkirk. It flows into nearby St Mary’s loch (with its thriving sailing club) past old Tibbieshiels inn, hostelry and overnight stop for walkers on the southern upland way crossing Scotland. Overlooking the north end of the loch is a monument to James Hogg – the Scottish Poet known as the Ettrick Shepherd, friend and contemporary of Sir Walter Scott. Taken 4/3/08 (untouched) (there is a 2nd loch of the lowes further north in Perthshire, complete with osprey viewing centre – but you can see the wonderful fish eagle hunting here too if you are lucky!) Its all in the title. This isn’t just an ordinary Church Spire. I am told its a copy of the Spire at St Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh. This is actually what I would consider the most prominant landmarks in Peebles. Peebles is a small Scottish Borders Town which lies about 20 miles south west of Edinburgh. Its possibly my most popular image to date out here in the real world. Made the Redbubble Home Page on the 29th of August 2008. Many thanks & best wishes from Robin; that’s me!! / Milestone reached, 1000 views. Thank you all kindly; Mum & Dad too. Reached on the 2nd of Oct 2008 / / / /

Two chickens out for an afternoon stroll in winter, near Kelso, Borders I seem to recall this was my first attempt at selective colouring (but am willing to be corrected by RBers with a good memory (or, who need to get out more)). This is perhaps my most favourite shot because it has caused so many other people to smile and add comments. Thank you all. I hope it continues to bring joy to many more.

I found this beautiful patch of lilies outside of the local / prison. It was ironic to see the barbed wire fence just beyond them in the distance. Made me terribly grateful to be standing at that spot- / at that moment.

Welcome to Scotland…..... This scene is the bridge over the River Tweed into Scotland and Coldstream, the first Border town. Just a bit more to tell you about this scene because som people may not realise just how fast this water is travelling. This is a seriously fast moving and deep stretch of water with a weir 50 meters the other side of the bridge. The river bottom is smooth pebble and theres usually a breeze blowing upstream too. This took days to get the shot I wanted with about 250 shots taken to produce just 2, however, the winter sun shone nicely for me all day. Enjoy.

Water – the most precious resource on the planet – is something we so take for granted in Scotland… what so many people all over the globe would give for even this supply….... I soaked my entire jeans leg taking this as i was kneeling in the swampy run-off from the fields on the hillside above but only noticed later when the freezing march cold began to bite! It’s amazing to me that the sky and clouds can be seen reflected in the flow! Taken in Peebles, scottish borders, below Glen Tress, getting splashed! :) Slightly cropped to remove an annoying grass stalk but otherwise untouched.

A rock’s eye view of the loch of lowes – I think this has a certain messy charm compared with the more pristine perfection of ‘loch of the lowes’ or ‘LoL’ Let me know what you think – comments and tips most welcome Loch of the Lowes lies in the beautiful scottish borders between Moffat and Selkirk. This was taken straight from the camera – no Photoshopping or anything…... / The shot was taken in Berwick, about 60 miles from Edinburgh. I’m so lucky to live this far North – we’re so close to God’s country (Scotland) – I ran over the road to a farmer’s field because i simply couldn’t let it go…. / Tonight the sky was incredible…....
