  • I found this beautiful patch of lilies outside of the local / prison. It was ironic to see the barbed wire fence just beyond them in the distance. Made me terribly grateful to be standing at that spot-at that moment.. / / / >Featured< in United States / / / Laminated Print / / Framed Print / / /

  • Two chickens out for an afternoon stroll in winter, near Kelso, Borders. They were starting out from the farm just behind me. Where were they going? The other side of the road or the end of it? I seem to recall this was my first attempt at selective colouring (but am willing to be corrected by RBers with a good memory (or, who need to get out more)). This is perhaps my most favourite shot because it has caused so many other people to smile and add comments. Thank you all. I hope it continues to bring joy to many more. • Loch of the Lowes lies in the beautiful scottish borders between Moffat and Selkirk. It flows into nearby St Mary’s loch (with its thriving sailing club) past old Tibbieshiels inn, hostelry and overnight stop for walkers on the southern upland way crossing Scotland. Overlooking the north end of the loch is a monument to James Hogg – the Scottish Poet known as the Ettrick Shepherd, friend and contemporary of Sir Walter Scott. Taken 4/3/08 (untouched) with a pocket fuji finepix A500 (There is a 2nd loch of the lowes further north in Perthshire, complete with osprey viewing centre – but you can see the wonderful fish eagle hunting here too if you are lucky!) My first ever feature on the home page ages on 23rd April 2008 and what a party that was…LOL See also : ‘i am a rock’ and ‘LoL’ loch of the lowes

Taken in a gorgeous winter wonderland, following 24 hours of freezing fog on my first ‘proper outing’ with a real dlsr.. but one of those ‘I must be mad’ moments.. crouched behind a crash barrier on a bend in the Glasgow road, sunday drivers whizzing past… (rb home page 19/11/09) / Nikon D60, VR Nikkor 18-200, UV filter / f/9,1/40 sec, ISO-100, 70mm !

  • Ink and tea on Fabriano Rosapina paper Original size: 19.5×19.5cm

  • I just happened to take my camera with me when I took my dog Jess, to the local beach. Jess decided it was much nicer lying on the beach than walking on it so I just lay opposite her and fired off a few shots. She’s very used to me taking shots so she just waited patiently for me to finish. Nikon D3 / 17-35mm lens / f/2.8

  • Part one of a diptych Ink, tea and gouache on Somerset paper / .

  • Misty Talla Reservoir in the Borders of Scotland.

  • This photo captures my friend Simona before she was joined by her now husband on a walk home across the river Kolpa after being married earlier that day. The river Kolpa splits the border between Slovenia and Croatia and their home can be seen in the distance on the Croatian side. The couple wanted to do this romantic stroll home at 6:30am to mark the end of a very eventful day as they said goobye to their friends on the Slovenian side. I cannot express how beautiful this was. I hope you appreciate this shot. IMAGE BEST VIEWED LARGE Nikon D60 = f/5.6, 1/125 sec, ISO-200, FL = 18mm Please check out my other related shots:

  • This is a doodle I’d done inside my own leather journal. I scanned it and added lots of textures and colour. Of course… recognition goes to the great JL for his lyric. • this is really importan picture, made with the remnants of the berlin wall, at that place, where the first crack was done. I was born in east berlin, my parents were east. The wall fell when I was 3 years old, but my parents were still east. I grew up in east berlin, had eastern teachers and friends. For me, berlin and germany, was always one. but for them, it was always seperated. They tried to teach me that, but I didn’t listen. It was just annoying to me. I try to make all of mine frustration on that topic, and some critism, that this wall still exist in some heads 20 years after it fell, into a picture. during the time I made this picture, I was in love with a girl from westberlin – who rejected me. That’s probably one topic of this picture is love. / Those two people on the picture, my friends, were in love with each other at that time. Allthough they never got together. They never could confess their feelings. It’s just like there’s been this invisible wall beetween them. This was the first time, I could make one of my visions, my frustration, my feelings and other feelings into one picture. After that, I took photography more seriously. But at that shooting, I was just happy. I was finally able to say something, I always wanted to say.
