This is a project of 6 pictures for a competition (which I didn’t win) where the subject was, basically, the way big cities have shaped our way of living, when the most likely would be the other way around. Please consider the titles when looking through them. Also, they work better when seen as a body of work. Hope you enjoy!
Copper tree made of copper wire / Stands 15’’ high and is 8’’ wide / Tree sets on Redwood Burel / “The art of the tree is pure, no boundaries in their form, no color denied.” “When I pick up the wire I feel the day and the twisting begins. I will sit it up and look at it, sometimes imagine sitting under it looking up to see what is there.” Trees are sold through the Artist /
views: 522 / favs: 15 Taken May 20, 2007 with a Fuji E-510. See my Miura Coast calendar. This rock in, known as Shiroyama (literally means “white mountain”), is located Arasaki Park (Yokosuka, Japan). Yokosuka is a city in Miura near Hayama, the town where I did my internship. Hayama is renowned for the beach and green hills, and this place was just a drive down. Hayama literally means “leaf mountain” in Japanese, and indeed Hayama is full of green mountains. The coast of Yokosuka, Hayama; along with other cities in Miura are popular for their beaches and offer a rich experience with nature. Well just for something completely different from the last lot of dark and mysterious Infrared landscapes…. this is the first of a little run of colour images from a wonderful little Holga toy camera. This image was however also taken in the same location in the Hunter Valley at the place I think of as daniland. When I go to stay there I get to sleep in the cutest most beautiful little cabin that is attached to the main studio. Out the front of this cabin is a little wooden porch that looks over a dam and across a deep and heavily wooded valley. There is a little table with some chairs there and on the table is this lovely little bonsai tree. On this particular morning there was a very heavy fog….. not unusual for this location even in the height of summer…. although it will burn off in the sun in a couple of hours after sunrise. But I just love the way the fog makes the landscape so intensely mysterious and just a tiny bit scary… great for taking photo’s even when you can hardly see the ground infront of you…...

For Drawing Day. Medium: pens and oil pastel on a piece of paper in my sketchbook. I was inspired by the Japanese artist Hiroshi Senju, who tends to limit his colors in his paintings. Sometimes he paints an image where the background is the complimentary colors of the subject. His style is simple but at the same time intense, where the foreground stands out from the complimentary background. This drawing however is different from his style; I have done another painting before which is closer to his style: As for the form of the tree and island, my inspiration came from this: / More from Drawing Day: / This piece has been included among RB’s featured pages, and featured in the following group: Young Enthusiasts

Bonsai (kanji: 盆栽, (literally “bon-planted”, where a ‘bon’ is a tray-like pot typically used in bonsai culture) is the art of aesthetic miniaturization of trees, or of developing woody or semi-woody plants shaped as trees, by growing them in containers. Cultivation includes techniques for shaping, watering, and repotting in various styles of containers. ‘Bonsai’ is a Japanese pronunciation of the earlier Chinese term penzai (盆栽). The word bonsai is used in the West as an umbrella term for all miniature trees in containers or pots.
This is an amazing tree …almost a giant bonsaii, in a Japanese Garden in Victoria, BC. Canon XTI / Canon 17-40 Lf4.0 FEATURED in The Woman Photographer (04 26 09) / FEATURED in Style! Class! Elegance! Excellence! (05 02 09) /
I was walking at the beach today. It was low tide and this was one of the formation in the sand, I thought it looked like a little tree. It reminded me those miniature Japanese tree, they put in a little pot with rocks around, I don’t know their names.
A bonsai pear tree with two fruit against a rich, gold craquelure background.
Aren’t we all fascinated by Bonsai? I loved the miniature green trees, but when I saw this pink blooming Bonsai Azalea, I was captivated forever. Azaleas only bloom for about a month in the springtime. Whenever I look at this photo, I am reminded how must make time to return to see this when it blooms again.

There are a number of interesting solitary trees in the Loch Lomond / Trossachs area which attract much attention from photographers – this is one of them. I have searched for the place where heaven and earth meet through my eyes, my ears and in my heart. Many times my eyes cried happy tears from the breathless wonders I have seen. My ears have swelled with joy listening to the sounds of violins in heaven and their counterparts here on earth. My heart has felt the presence of Creator’s love above, below and all around me. Please see the dream, hear the dream and feel the dream in your own heart as you view this piece and listen to Kitaro’s Heaven and Earth Many Blessings to you all. I am blessed by each of you this day. Celebrate with me … Judi Taylor 8-5-2009 Heaven and Earth
