  • The Spitfire. A legend of British military aviation. The spitfire beat the Messerschmitt BF-109 in this encounter but in reality the skill and bravery of pilots on both sides eclipsed the performance and technical differences between their aircraft. • You don’t want a black Citroen DS on your tail – especially if you’re in a 70’s French spy movie. This is a truly revolutionary car that quickly became a design classic. Detail / Stay in touch Subscribe to T-Shirt Updates Subscribe to my T-Shirt blog | visit the blog

  • A bit lacking in mirrors but it’s still mod :) This was featured in the Retro Tees – We got the funk group in October 2008 and March 2009. It also came second in the ‘All in’ group challenge in April 2009 This was the first T I’ve bought on RB too – and I’m ‘VERY’ happy with the result (despite the fact my own bike relies on pedal power) This buyer’s booth pic was featured on the home page on 1 Dec 2008 (yay!) • Not easy to do with these games… Feeling a bit nostalgic for Scalextric and other racing games I grew up with. If you’re feeling like a bit more reckless you might be ‘getting off track’.. • My dad’s ‘suitcase’ reel to reel recorder wasn’t quite this flash, but it brings back memories of ‘real’ home taping before it started killing music. Detail Featured in the Retro Tees Group on 03/04/2009 Stay in touch Subscribe to T-Shirt Updates Subscribe to my T-Shirt blog | visit the blog

  • Just go faster and harder. Kick that thing! A little something for the sound challenge (except I actually forgot to enter!! d’oh!) • Hooray for the Redshirt http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redshirt_(character) If you can’t get a note from your mum that you’re allergic to alien planet excursions, you may as well face it – You visit strange planets with senior officers and wear a red shirt – you’re a goner! You don’t even get to pass go and collect a kiss of a blue skinned female alien. • A classic with personality. The original Fiat 500 gives a cheeky wink on an Italian street and say – Ciao! My entry into the lemon tee challenge (not suggesting this company has a history of reliability problems of course…) Featured on the home page on 11/02/2009 Related Designs Mod Scooter Spy Car Stay in touch Subscribe to T-Shirt Updates Subscribe to my T-Shirt blog | visit the blog

If, like me you’re trying to improve all the time (not always succeeding :) ) and get some exposure and success sales-wise then you may want to check out the following sites for inspiration and also ways to direct people to your portfolio on RB: Competitions and other places to submit (some of which mentioned by various people in forums and journals) – in no particular order: Design by Humans – a well regarded ‘vote to print’ site – also has some good resources like ‘realistic’ templates to use for ‘model’ images. Tee invaders – A new competition site (haven’t checked it out yet) KingStrike – A slightly different concept – People buy the rights to your design for printing Teenormous – A great collection of shirts from around the web Threadless – No news here – everyone knows about Threadless. As I found it’s not easy to get into!! – lots of competition. It’s a community of sorts like RB, and You can add your own blog feed in your Threadless profile (so you can point it to your own blog, or your works on RB) – submission kit also has resources for ‘model’ images Shirt.w00t – another rolling competition with different challenges TeeFury – one a day – vote etc Teextile – This is brand new, and is another ‘one a day’ site. May be a good time to get something in there… Caponocca – Another competition site – $2500 for printed shirts 6 dollar shirts – Currently accepting submissions (2 colour designs) Mysoti – A fairly new POD (print on demand) site similar (in some ways) to RB, but without the community. Don’t know about the quality but the I’ve sold a couple there. Full Metal Shirt – Another competition site… Uneetee – Another US-based vote and print site Emptees – An aggregator, community and blog for your own and other’s designs Rumplo – another aggregator of other people’s designs. Unfortunately they don’t accept design suggestions from RB, but if you do a little digging you might find a way… StumbleUpon – Social bookmarking – Add your bubblesite, your blog etc – some people have reported success from this. Feedburner – Syndicate and publicise your ‘feeds’. This could be your blog, your works on RB, or pretty much anything. Feedburner allows you to get stats on the feeds, publish them elsewhere, and also create all sorts of widgets for subscribing etc. I’ve started putting the ‘stay in touch’ section in my posts to see how it goes… (might post more detail on this as it’s a bit more technical) I love your t-shirt – a sort of blog but also a place to submit designs to get seen A better tomorrow – a German design competition site Spring Leap – Another competition site (haven’t really looked yet) ModernTee – Another competition site ($250 per design) oh yeah – Zazzle and Cafepress if you want to sell mouse mats ;) FFFFound – Image bookmarking blogs that you may want to look at to find the sites yourself Competeetion – This is a great place to find out about other sites and competitions going on around the web. Hide your arms – A pretty good T blog – with the most useful post about basically every other T shirt blog. (that saves me writing the rest out under here!) TCritic – Another blog – not very frequent Fashionably geek – Clothing and accessories for the ‘well-dressed geek’ The Fresh Stock – Street wear and art TeeBurb – Tee designer community, blog – integrates with Twitter Teecraze – Nice simple syndication blog RB Tee Designers Sites / Blogs Redbubble home pages – find the historical home pages here Grandia Design – Clothing and interviews with fellow RB’ers (including ME) from the excellent Grandia Design Redbubble Twitter Twibe Bubbling under the surface – Unofficial RB Blog Diesel Laws – The mightly Diesel, now with a new full stop. Damien Mason – Web Design, Illustration, Animation and Monkeys WebGrrl – Not just T-Shirts… mtths – Such cool stuff – with success on Threadless too! JemimaLovesBigTed – JLBT on Tumblr Cathie Tranent – Cathie T on Tumblr Paul McClintock – Pauk on Tumblr Other Resources Free images – Places to find images on the web – useful for that inspiration or starting point for a design. How to find images – Another good wrap up of places to source images Typographic Posters – This is a great resource for all sorts of inspiration Smashing Magazine – A fantastic resource for design, print and web. Subscribe and get inspired on a very regular basis TypeNow – Free Fonts from A-Z. Lots of stuff for your ‘parody’ Tees :) FontSpace – 1000+ free fonts Anyone know of any more that would be of interest to RB T designers? – reply in the comments. I’ll keep adding to this when I find more… Stay in touch / / Subscribe to T-Shirt Updates / Subscribe to my T-Shirt blog | visit the blog

  • The green house, or energy saving lighthouse. Just think how much you’d save… This is a revamp of an old (hand drawn) design which has risen again hopefully in better shape. This is also my entry into a halftone challenge Detail: This was featured on the Redbubble home page on 23/03/2009, and Agent Provocateur on 21/05/2009 Stay in touch Subscribe to T-Shirt Updates Subscribe to my T-Shirt blog | visit the blog

  • A bit of silly fun for a mate who’s a die hard fan. A simple homage to the (sometimes unintentional) comic genius of the underrated James May (AKA Captain Slow) from Top Gear fame. This is most often said in his unmistakeable self-deprecating style at just the right moment to make you spit out your coffee as you see Richard Hammond and Jeremy Clarkson doubled up in laughter at whatever’s gone wrong this time. I tried to find a good example on the web, but the best I can find apart from this one, is an impression from some guy here :) Contrary to popular belief (and at the risk of sounding like Captain Slow himself), he rarely says ‘Oh’ first – adding to the comic impact ;) Stay in touch Subscribe to T-Shirt Updates Subscribe to my T-Shirt blog | visit the blog

  • Kids always love the lollipop lady, but they’ll really love ‘this’ lollipop lady. Not only is she quite tasty herself, she guides the little munchkins across the zebra crossing to the land of lolly heaven! Nothing sinister here – just life as you’d love it to be! :) A little bit of a different, more illustrative style here. Lots of fun to do, and my kids actually helped to pull it all together! • Apparently the current world record for most number of people in a mini is 21 – this last person could just do it…. Started and finished in around 90 mins for a speed tee challenge :) Or how about white?

  • This ‘custom-made’ White Lotus Esprit used in ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’ is arguably the most recognisable and memorable of the James Bond cars. You can now pick up this piece of history for a steal. It comes with loads of extras and only has slight water damage. Just remember to engage ‘land mode’ before taking it for a test drive… Detail / Other James Bond Shirts Stay in touch Subscribe to T-Shirt Updates Subscribe to my T-Shirt blog | visit the blog

  • There are times that you’d rather not say what you’re feeling or thinking. Enter the amazing ‘Care Factor’ gauge. • It’s sometimes easy to feel you’re walking a tightrope as you wind your way through life. This just tries to point out that the simple things in life may be ultimately more satisfying than being cloned into the dollar-chasing uphill struggle. • New films ‘inspired by’ older ones aren’t satisfied with being sequels, prequels or remakes anymore. A new look and new cast requires what’s now called a reboot. Online in 1996, with the motion picture in 1979, Next Generation in 1987 – now the reboot in 2009.. Lucky your favourite three fingered salute is on hand to press Ctrl + Alt + Delete. I’m sure the more avid fans will point out many inaccuracies in this design, so my apologies in advance (I am but an observer) ;) A reboot of this computer would of course be a verbal command, spoken in a best American-Scottish accent : ‘computerrr….. computerrrr!!!..... where’s the $(#@#! on/off switch?’ Detail: / If you like this – then try… or if you’re from the ‘other side’...
