Hidden Woman
by CareAcrylic on canvas 1m x 1m / 2005 (original Sold) This painting is about women…being one myself…I found the inspiration to paint that feeling of hiding in plain sight. Where it can feel easier to sink into the background…keeping the inner self hidden…..from harm…from risks….from the world. / But ..really…wanting to bring that hidden woman out to the surface..not be afraid.. but just be.

The complete and real title is : “Poupée – InnerSelf”. I asked to myself : Stars… They bright the sky, our eyes, our mind & soul. They are inside of us. We always look for them, for these glimpses of lights and happiness. / Do we really know ourselves? / Do we realize that we have all of this inside of us? / What are we in fact? / As we don’t really look in the correct place, we don’t really know ourselves i decided to ‘almost’ delete the face. Self-portrait, 2007. So, i’ve been digging through my endless photo files and came across this piece. Taken in Arizona when i was living there with a friend, after losing my job and getting evicted due to my health taking a rapid turn for the worst. / I had just started gaining weight back (and pretty much stopped here, lol) when i decided to take this shot. / I’m pretty much sick to death of seeing airbrushed photos of women with implants and anorexia and plastic surgery galore…my body is this way because i’m a bloody Real Person – and anybody who gets to see it up close and in person is damn lucky – stretch-marks, skinny arms and all. / My body has gone through so much; childbirth, spinal injury, serious chronic illness – / But i still pretty much dig it.
