Sailor, / You’re my safe harbour / My anchor in a storm / The fair wind in my sails / My compass when I’m lost / An ocean of love / My crest of a wave / Like the tides, you come and go / Constantly / You’re my high tide when I’m low / I’m with you wherever you go / You have my love to see you through / I too, have yours / More than this I cannot ask / nor want…...................

Knot of rope securing boat to Harbour, Looe Cornwall England
This yellow dory was tied to the wharf for the winter. The boat launch had quite a steep angle to it… you can see the ocean far below, so the dory was secured with these blue ropes.I loved the contrast between the yellow boat and the blue ropes holding it securely. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography / / laminated print / /

This cheeky little fellow has made his home in a house boat roof on the Noosa River, Noosaville. Common Swallow, they move very fast, I was surprised to have caught this frame by sheer fluke :) Canon 50D 300mm.

Built 1930-31, Royal Shipyard (formerly), Castellamare di Stabia. and carried out many voyages before World War II. The period of the war was the only time the ship has not been active. The elegant, three-mated full rigger serves as the training vessel of the Italian Naval Academy. The entire rig and all the sheets are traditional materials: Canvas sails and hemp ropes. The only synthetic on board is the mooring lines, which have to be an approved type for some of the ports they visit. The sheets, laid end to end, span 35 km. www.flindtphotography.com The quaintly named Strumpshaw Fen is a beautiful RSPB site at which can be seen kingfishers, marsh harriers and (if you’re very lucky) the highly elusive bittern. Another star attraction at Strumpshaw Fen is the swallow butterfly. On this visit we did not see a bittern or a kingfisher; and, given the time of year, we were not surprised to find that the swallowtail butterfly was nowhere to be seen. But then, who needs elusive butterflies or birds when you find yourself presented with a dilapidated, water-filled rowing boat and such a spectacular sunset as this? Canon EOS 5D and EF 16-35mm lens. Exposure of 1/5 second at f/14.
