In Dec 1973, my aunty and uncle embarked on two major journeys; marriage and a year long trip to the Cocos Islands. They told great stories of their time there and Gerry painted landscapes that captivated me from a young age. In late 2007, I finally walked the islands that they so dreamily embedded in my child’s mind. Thank you Steve and Gerry!

Inspired by Joseph Turner. Lindisfarne Priory and Castle, In Northumberland, (near where I live), as a storm rolls in, from the ever-moody, North Sea! Watercolour on 90lb paper 12”x 8” I loved painting this, and will do a much larger one, in the future.

Beyond the Sea Somewhere beyond the sea / Somewhere waiting for me / My lover stands on golden sands / And watches the ships that go sailin Somewhere beyond the sea / She’s there watching for me / If I could fly like birds on high / Then straight to her arms / I’d go sailin’ It’s far beyond the stars / It’s near beyond the moon / I know beyond a doubt / My heart will lead me there soon We’ll meet beyond the shore / We’ll kiss just as before / Happy we’ll be beyond the sea / And never again I’ll go sailin’ I know beyond a doubt / My heart will lead me there soon / We’ll meet (I know we’ll meet) beyond the shore / We’ll kiss just as before / Happy we’ll be beyond the sea / And never again I’ll go sailin’ No more sailin’ / So long sailin’ / Bye bye sailin’... by Bobby Darin / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-- / Daybreak at the Whitsunday Islands, Queensland / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-——-

This shot was of the jetty over looking the coast at paradise cove resort mauritius .It was almost completly dark when I took this shot . / The shot was a few mins exposure . It was really windy and rainy this morning and had to stand to the side of the camera to stop the wind from shaking the tripod as much as possible and duck in for cover between showers of rain . Beacuse of the wind the image isnt as sharp as i would have liked . I was also lucky there werent any boats tied up the jetty like they normally where this morning . Not to sure what the little island of the coast you can see was called The color of the water there is amazing its really that Turquoise , quite different from the cool and deep blues of Western Australias oceans .

Looking out over the Santorini caldera from near Akrotiri. Fira (the capitol) is on top of the hill just off centre right and Oia can be seen at the far end of the island on the left. Santorini, Greece, is one of the southern most islands of the Cycladic group in the Aegean Sea. Related shots can be found at Santorini or Greece or Eastern Meditteranean. This shot has been posted before, but on advice from Julie Langford I have decided to re-post it here. It is one of my favourites, so I hope you all like it. Best viewed Larger. I have more views of Santorini, just click on any of the pictures below to be taken to the page for that picture:
