  • Sunset shot at Crandon Park Marina, Key Biscayne, FL HDR of three exposures (+/-2EV) merged and tone-mapped in dynamic-photo HDR / Canon EOS 40D / Canon EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM

  • An old fishing boat that had rusted out badly around the rear of the hull – I used a macro lens to get this photograph – the variety of color is not obvious until one gets up very close and takes a careful look – otherwise it just looks like a boat with a rusted rudder. If you look carefully on the lower left quadrant you can see the remains of a barnacle. Nikon D50 handheld, Sigma 105mm macro, 1/160s f/10 / Sold framed print and matted print (privately, not through RB but both cases it was seen here) to friends. 366 views as of Nov 27 09 / / /

  • A portion of the Destin (Florida) Harbor during the evening line up. Adjusted exposure, sharpening and color for a HDR effect. / / / /

  • Eastpoint, Florida, USA, is the real deal. Fishing is the town’s lifeblood, though it’s getting hard to make a living that way. They take these boats out onto Apalachee Bay almost every day, using long tongs to pluck the oysters off the bottom. Local restaurants and markets sell the oysters fresh. This was taken early on a Sunday morning. The boats are still in twilight as the first rays of the sun start breaking into the sky. Other than the shimmering of the water, a lone seagull provides the only action. “Eastpoint At Dawn” / —Featured in the group “Florida the Sunshine State” / -Featured in the group “Harbour Life” / —WInner of monthly avatar challenge in the “Harbour Life” group. Photographed with Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ50 (10MP/35-420mm Leica lens).

  • The rising sun burns through a misty morning fog, making a ghostly image of shrimp boats at berth in Apalachicola, Florida, USA. Apalachicola is a lovely, historic, commercial fishing and tourism town on the Gulf of Mexico. Ghost Fleet won the monthly avatar challege in the group “Nautical.” Photographed with Fuji FinePix A205 (2 megapixels). Not recommended for prints larger than 11×14 inches (28×35 cm approx.)
