Oil painting / / Passion…..the town of 1770 is magical, where else can you camp right next to the beach,under palms beautiful fishing swiming scuba diving sailing pelicans and squabling seagulls waiting for a hand out, trips over to see the famous light house,wonderful sunsets sitting on the sand with light brezes wafting over the sand, flying possums over head and to top it off my favouite pastime painting in thick yummy paint out in the fresh air on site. Pulu Beras or “Prison Island”, Cocos Islands. Sure floats my boat….(for Gez!) Prison Island got it’s name from it’s small size and it’s inaccessibility during high tide unless on a boat. Last century, the tiny island was owned by Alexander Hare. He lived here in the only house on the island with something like 12 women and a heap of children…..what a life!

A long lens and a little patience rewarded me with a silhouetted fishing boat with a large glowing sun in the background. This was taken at Bang Sare. One of my favourite sunset locations. I used to go there often when I lived in Bangkok but it is many hundreds of kilometres from where I live now.
