This wee boat sits in Cockenzie Harbour on the shores of the River Forth near Edinburgh in Scotland. I think its one of my best images to date. It was shot on a Nikon D70 which has since given up. I now shoot with a D200 but I do still miss my D70. I have another online portfolio at www.artwanted.com/robinbrown. I have some 275 images there at any one time. It will take me a wee while to get my Redbubble portfolio up to that number of images but then Rome wasn’t built in a day. / Thanks for viewing. /

We enjoyed the mellow dusk settle on this perfect anchorage with pints of beer in hand, outside the renowned Forge inn, (officially Britains remotest mainland pub). The tiny scottish hamlet of Inverie is inaccessible by road, only by sea or a demanding walk of many miles. We had crossed to the unspoilt area of the knoydart peninsula by ferry from Mallaig for some amazing walking (see the series of 3 pics on heartbeat ridge . The sights on arrival were just captivating with wildflowers galore, deer roaming gardens, peacocks roosting (see bird in a tree and I also got the precious shot of morning gems. Grey it may have been but stunningly quiet and beautiful all the same as we sat outside Britains’ remotest mainland pub in the tiny hamlet of Inverie on the knoydart peninsula, in Scotland Taken mid afternoon a couple of hours before the dusk shot of perfect anchorage / and my hasty escape from the dreaded west coast midgies! Taken in Tobermory Bay, fishing boats have returned after a days fishing, i love the clouds and reflections in ths shot. 1 shot handheld, converted to 3 shots in CS2 then merged to HDR in photomatix. Levels, curves and saturation in CS2 Canon 400D / 18-55 lens / Hoya uv filter.

by dinghysailor1The view to march wood in a torrential downpour one August evening at St Mary’s Loch in the lovely scottish borders. This torrential downpour put us off our planned sunset sail last night… lightening and metal dinghy masts are not the best combo I fear… the raindrops almost bouncing off the loch.. or stoatin’ doon as joak would say.. Not great art but a memorable night and just wish i’d got those rebounding raindrops more clearly… try viewing large.. During an eventful regatta at St Mary’s Loch in the lovely scottish borders a rainbow appears .. a pretty scene but one with vivid memories attached for any afloat that day with gusts touching storm force 8 capsizing most of the fleet… repeatedly..! After ten unplanned ! swims without ever reaching the start line..i cut my losses.. grabbed the camera and headed for the action from the safety of the shore.. Kyleakin is the first village encountered on the Isle of Skye, when you cross over the bridge from Kyle of Lochalsh…....this is where the old Ferry boat used to land, which I don’t miss at all, romantic it might be, but darned inconvenient !! / The old ruin you can see behind the boats is Castle Moil…......a few facts for you….... “The 14th Century Castle Moil has had many names in its long history. Also known as Dun Akyn (Norse for Hakon’s Fort) and An Caisteal Maol in Gaelic, it is now a romantic ruin. Sited at the Skye end of the road bridge in the village of Kyleakin, the castle has Norse connections. Legend has it that a Norwegian princess, otherwise known as “Saucy Mary”, ordered a chain to be hung from the castle to the mainland so that no boat could pass without paying a tax.” / Nothing new under the sun then, eh ??!! LOL !!
