  • Ever dreamed of sneaking away to a quiet, tranquil spot…lush vegetation, hearing the sounds of the forest and spending the day relaxing, reading a good book and having the most yummy picnic? / Well here is a little oasis I created. It looks a lot like an area of New Zealand called the Marlborough Sounds. What childhood memories are made of. • When I am an old horsewoman / I shall wear turquoise and diamonds, / And a straw hat that doesn’t suit me / And I shall spend my social security on / white wine and carrots, / And sit in my alleyway of my barn / And listen to my horses breathe. I will sneak out in the middle of a summer night / And ride the old bay gelding, / Across the moonstruck meadow / If my old bones will allow / And when people come to call, I will smile and nod / As I walk past the gardens to the barn / and show instead the flowers growing / inside stalls fresh-lined with straw. I will shovel and sweat and wear hay in my hair / as if it were a jewel / And I will be an embarrassment to all / Who will not yet have found the peace in being free / to have a horse as a best friend / A friend who waits at midnight hour / With muzzle and nicker and patient eyes / For the kind of woman I will be / When I am old.

  • Last summer I spent living on a boat in the North Pacific on the north west side of The Queen Charlotte Islands in Canada. (left is Graham Islans & right is Hippa) I can’t describe it and I’m one to go on about things. Living with the same 8 people in isolation for 120 days… you need to get away. I spent a lot of time in the kayak. I had never done it before and I fell in love. I kayaked in the ocean. Curious seals befriended me from their cautious distance of about 4 feet. Watching sunsets floating in the middle of nowhere is a priceless experience & I’d often pass up warn dinner to be out there. I quite liked the name of the little plastic vessel. ‘Perception’. That’s what it’s all about for me. this photo is not selective colour edited. it is a full colour photograph. shot with my Canon Rebel XT (that’s x-tra trout, baby!) Look! my very own motivational poster! Coming soon to a gloomy office near you! /

  • “Floating on Clouds” was shot in Goulds Newfoundland Canada. This is The Dory in natural light. I was talking to a friend about shooting “The Dory” and “Floating on Clouds” and how I used a polarizer to bring out the clouds on the water (as seen here) and removed it and used a flash to shoot “The Dory”. I was wondering in hindsight what I would have come up with if I had used the polarizer and flash at the same time. I know I would have given up about up to two stops with the filter which would have meant a slower shutter speed and the boat was moving, ever so slightly, so it may not have worked out? But maybe next time, live and learn! Camera Model Canon EOS 50D / Tv( Shutter Speed ) 1 / Av( Aperture Value ) 22.0 / ISO Speed 100 / Lens EF-S18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS / Focal Length 18.0mm / B + W Polarizer For more information please visit Brian’s Homepage or on Flickr
