Old wooden sailboat moored in the channel.
As she gracefully moved into the harbour, I gave her a second and a third look. My eyes followed those amazing lines, resting on the most interesting parts. When facing something so elegant and curvaceous, that’s what people do. That is what people like me do. By the way, she is barquentine, which a short trip to an encyclopaedia revealed as “a sailing ship with three to five masts”, not a vessel with a bar and canteen, my initial thought. On this image, she is inspecting her appearance before leaving the port for the last time. When you are so gorgeous, a bit of vanity is not a crime.

A monochrome shot of a forgotten, un-loved boat lying on its side in a creek just off the West Coast of England.

A truly beautiful square rigger moored in St Malo, France. The square-rigged barque Gunilla was originally launched as a cargo vessel at the Oskarshamn Shipyard in 1940 of pre-war, top-quality steel and she navigated Swedish waters until 1997. Today, the ship is chartered by “Den Seglande Gymnasieskolan” (The Sailing Upper-Secondary School) for a greater part of the season. This sailing school represents an educational program which combines theory and practice in a new, exciting concept for / students.
