A single version (see previous ‘Marine Flowers’) – marks, early morning sunlight and water running down the side of an old boat. I have been working on making a series of abstract images from boats at a local boatyard where old boats in dry dock are brought back to life.

A low winter sun slanted down across the quay of the small Scottish harbour. A fishing boat lay on the bottom at low water. Its stern line stretched taut to a bollard. / The long light, brighter than it was warm, created dark shadows. / There is a faint, cool blue light falling on the bow from the north facing harbour entrance.

Years ago this panel used to be a deep blue. Weather, sun and neglect has caused this deterioration. Some remnants of the original colour cling on. I have been working on making a series of abstract images from boats at a local boatyard in Maylands where old boats in dry dock are brought back to life.
