Pirate Code of Conduct / The Pirate Code of Conduct / The Pirate Code of Conduct! A Pirate ship required a level of discipline and a Pirate Code of Conduct. The Pirate Code of Conduct was an important agreement between the Pirate Captain and his crew. The Pirate Code of Conduct consisted of a number of agreements between the Captain and pirate crew which were called Articles. The Pirate Code of Conduct was necessary as pirates were not governed by any other rules such as Naval regulations. Pirate captains were elected and could lose their position for abuse of their authority. because it represents the Journey of Life, and here it can represent for you the beginning of a new year, a chance to start over and begin anew, leaving behind the old things and beginning a brand new journey, it is a good time to think about your goals for the coming year and write them down / Feb Seasons / This one comes next as a reminder that for everything, there is a season, a time to live, a time to die, a time to laugh, a time to sing….and the list goes on and on, you will probably experience most of these things throughout the year, this painting is a reminder that these things come and bash yourself up and become embittered by it…sometimes people have unclear motives and you are best not to pay to much attention to their choice of words..and what they have spoken over you can be a is my soul…the soul/spirit….this is on a blue day, a day when i think large thoughts and ponder the universe…a reminder of the times when sometimes we need a quiet place and a little music to space “Lokahi,” meaning unity, / to be expressed with harmony; “Oluolu,” meaning agreeable, / to be expressed with pleasantness; “Haahaa,” meaning humility, / to be expressed with modesty; “Ahonui,” meaning patience, / to be expressed with perseverance. These are traits of character that express the charm, warmth and sincerity of Hawaii’s people. It was the working philosophy of Native Hawaiians and was presented as a gift to the people of Hawaii. “Aloha” is more than a word of greeting or farewell or a salutation. “Aloha” means mutual regard and affection and extends warmth in caring with no obligation in return. “Aloha” is the essence of relationships in which each person is important to every other person for collective existence. “Aloha” means to hear what is not said, to see what cannot be seen and to know the unknowable. Iliki was also heavily inspired by the novel “Hawaii” by James Michener / Nov Thoughts Become Things / A reminder that Thoughts do become Things, so take time to ponder your thoughts and where they may lead, don’t spend too much time rushing about, sit and be still for a time, allow your mind to fill with new ideas and ways to achieve them, keep up your creative spirit…enchant me, enchant others…bring life to old things…bring joy to others / Dec Cross Your Heart / Remember others, be otherly…but remember to take care of your own heart first, so that it is well and whole and healthy….strive for goodness and kindness and loveliness…our world is troubled, hasn’t it always been though….but through this be a light and a beacon to others, for what other reason is there than this…. take care of you, so that you can share your wellness, creativity, love for life and encouragement with others… and goodness and kindness will follow….like karma….and even when it doesn’t seem to, remember always, that you have deposited some good…and this is enough :) Other Christmas cards and art by Karin /

Another in the Masters series. / This is the centre part of a long panoramic watercolour. By Thomas Bush Hardy, 1895. I’ve moved some of the boats to be closer together, as my version is a small painting, 10×7 inches, on rough Bockingford tinted cream paper, 140lb. I will be painting the full length seascape in the future.

Beginning in January 1881, the Mary D. Hume hauled goods between the Rogue River (Gold Beach, Oregon) and San Francisco for ten years. She then started her service as an arctic whaling ship. She was run aground countless times and even sank in Alaskan waters in the ice of Nushagak River and was raised and repaired in Seattle in 1904. She also recorded the longest whaling voyage of six and a half years! The Mary D Hume was named after the wife of the original owner after he purchased the boat in 1881. The Mary D Hume is also credited with the largest catch of baleen whale in history, valued at $400,000, after a 29 month voyage! In 1978, after the longest Pacific coastal service of any boat, The Mary D Hume motored back between the jetties in Gold Beach and was given to the Curry County Historical Society. Crowds lined the banks of the river and cheered as she came in, and she was entered on the National Register of Historical places. This historic vessel is not being preserved in its final resting place along the banks of the Rogue River in Gold Beach. Everything seemed to go wrong after the Mary D Hume was turned over to the Historic Society. It took seven years to rig a sling. When they tried to lift her out for repairs the sling broke. Then the slings structure failed and the boat fell and sank in four feet of water. And there she still remains, being rapidly destroyed by the harsh coastal weather, the swift ocean tides, and the destructive currents of the large river.
