  • Blythe is a 12inch doll, she was first released in 1972, however she was not very popular because of large head. Thirty years later Gina Garan photography and Toy exhibitions in Japan made this doll very popular again, re releasing the dolls called “Neo Blythes” by toy company Takara. This doll “Emi” has been customized. / Enjoy.

  • Over a hundred years ago, Blyth had a lot of windmills. I did this stylised one from a black and white photo of a 19th century pencil drawing. I like working like that – it gives my imagination plenty to play with.

  • This is my first “request” – thanks Cathleen. I used to love this station, but the powers-that-be decided Blyth didn’t need the railways any more. Since then, a fantastic Metro train network has been created in Northumberland and Tyne & Wear and guess which town is left out because we no longer have rail tracks. I did an earlier version of this picture, on which this is based. Here it is:

  • I found a black and white photo and decided to liven it up a bit.

  • Christmas is a little bit creepy with Blythe.

  • Custom blythe doll

  • My hometown isn’t the most picturesque of places, but it does have a lighthouse that was built in the 18th century. The river was made deeper and narrower over the years and so the lighthouse is now inland. I have painted and drawn it before (as has L.S. Lowry) but decided to liven it up a little in this whimsically bent coloured pencil depiction of it. Here is a more conventional drawing I did of the same lighthouse: FEATURED BY EAT SLEEP DRAW GROUP – 26th September 2009

  • She pretended to be shy, we knew she wasn’t. We could see straight through her. / Before we knew it, we were best friends.

  • Any ideas for a title?

  • This is the second of my images for my college project in which i am trying to produce ‘emotive’ portraits. This has been taken at the same location as Urban Playground (on a different day).

  • I did this drawing in 1990. More recently I did a coloured version, using my own choice of colours of course :) FEATURED BY NORTH EAST ENGLAND GROUP – 17th February 2009

  • Hand painted OOAK Blythe doll. / Originally Ashlette. / First spray painted with four different shades of brown paint for hard plastic, almost all at once so the colours blend. Airbrushed her eye make-up and cheeks (although hidden behind her glasses). Slightly re-carved and re-shaped her lips, then airbrushed and finished by hand painting.. / New blond afro wig. The tiny camera is from a vintage 70’s English Sindy doll.

  • This pub was demolished in 1891, so the photo I used will be in the public domain by now. It’s the first pen and ink I have done for a while and it took ages, hence the lack of new paintings :) The pub stood about a mile from where I live. Another pub with the same name replaced it. It’s A3 sized and I used Rotring Isograph and Rapidograph pens. Because of all the detail this didn’t photograph too well, so here is a close-up: /

  • In the days when I sold prints of my pen and ink work, this sold 1,000 prints, of which 90 were framed and mounted, or logically speaking, mounted then framed :) It was the most popular drawing I ever did. For almost twenty years I have mused over whether it sold so well because the view had nostalgic value to the purchasers, or whether any artistic merit entered into the the equation. By uploading it onto Redbubble I may soon have a better idea, because none of you will be familiar with this view and will hopefully judge it on its merit as a drawing. Chris Baker of Redbubble has sent me this link to another view of the ferry .. many thanks Chris :) FEATURED IN FIRST THINGS GROUP – 26th July 2009 FEATURED IN HAND PAINTED OR DRAWN BUILDINGS AND ARCHITECTURE – 28th July 2009

  • This watercolour is of a local church in Blyth, Northumberland, England. Here is my original version of this drawing, before i decided to stylise it: FEATURED BY CHRISTIAN CHURCHES, STATUES & CROSSES GROUP – 28th September 2009. / FEATURED BY HAND PAINTED OR DRAWN BUILDINGS OR ARCHITECTURE GROUP – 15th October 2009 /

  • My stylised version of this was featured in a group today, so I decided to upload the original work. Here is my more recent version:
