  • Yes, before you say it … strange! :-) As of July 2009, this painting has had 5,048 viewings and has been favourited 79 times and had 194 comments, so I guess someone out there likes it. Many thanks for your enthusiasm. To be candid though, I’ll never cease to be amazed at its reception, as I didn’t spend too much time on it and even kept it out of my portfolio for ages as I thought it was sub-standard. PLEASE NOTE – AS THE PROPORTIONS OF THIS ARE NOT IN LINE WITH THE PRINTING REQUIREMENTS, IT IS NO LONGER FOR SALE FEATURED BY SURREALISM GROUP – 28th July 2008 FEATURED BY YOU’RE ACCEPTED GROUP – 11th November 2008 FEATURED BY BRITISH PAINTERS GROUP – 26th June 2009 FEATURED BY UNIVERSAL INNOVATION GROUP – 3rd August 2009 I continued this theme and did two more paintings: /

  • Over a hundred years ago, Blyth had a lot of windmills. I did this stylised one from a black and white photo of a 19th century pencil drawing. I like working like that – it gives my imagination plenty to play with.

  • Jason was our cat before Mao. He lived to 13 but survived the last two years of his life with three legs. That didn’t stop him climbing fences though. FEATURED BY CATS AND DOGS GROUP – 1st October 2009

  • I have recently enjoyed a fantastic week in North Wales, visiting relatives and friends, some of whom I hadn’t seen since 1968. My father was Welsh and I have been sort of getting back to my roots. This is the Welsh Dragon, copied from their flag. FEATURED IN THE FINKS OF INK GROUP – 12th November 2008 FEATURED IN THE DRAGON’S FIRE GROUP – 15th June 2009

  • When I was visiting relatives in Wrexham (North Wales), I spotted a stone head on the lawn near the library. It was decorated with mosaic. As I try not to plagiarise, I decided to draw the outline of the head and then draw it as though it was built with stones, sort of dry-wall style. As of September 2009 this has been favourited 37 times and featured 4 tiems, so I guess someone out there likes it :) I am now offering this for sale as view cards. Here is the photo I used for this drawing (I took it myself so there are no copyright issues) and I ask you to consider whether I do straight copies or, as I believe, I add some of my own style to the finished picture. • My hometown isn’t the most picturesque of places, but it does have a lighthouse that was built in the 18th century. The river was made deeper and narrower over the years and so the lighthouse is now inland. I have painted and drawn it before (as has L.S. Lowry) but decided to liven it up a little in this whimsically bent coloured pencil depiction of it. Here is a more conventional drawing I did of the same lighthouse: FEATURED BY EAT SLEEP DRAW GROUP – 26th September 2009

  • TOBY AND TABATHA IN THE TINY CITY Toby and Tabatha were taking an early morning walk one summer’s day, when they chanced upon a tiny city, built on the outskirts of their town. While Tabatha peered over one of the castellated walls of the city, Toby leaped over it and sat happily on a cobbled street to gather his thoughts for while. The two cats felt they had been transported into another era. The few people they saw on the street were tiny and dressed in Victorian costume. A soldier courageously stood guard close to where Toby sat. Slightly past the soldier, a well-dressed lady had stopped for a moment, apparently lost in thought. Neither of the characters appeared to be in the least perturbed by Toby and Tabatha, which puzzled the two friends. Of course, what you may have guessed, but they have yet to work out, is that our two feline friends had wandered into the town’s brand new model village; not yet open to the public. Won’t Toby and Tabatha get a surprise when Mr. Grimshaw the Park Attendant arrives at nine o’clock to start his day’s work? They will actually get a big shock when they discover that Mr. Grimshaw, a grumpy man at the best of times, has an intense dislike of cats, however cute and fluffy they may be …. Words and picture …. © Dave Edwards 2008.

  • These two hens belong to my in-laws, so I guess that makes me a relative of these feathery creatures :)) I used gouache by the way. FEATURED IN ART UP CLOSE GROUP – 30th October 2009 /

  • ”..... Tell this soul with sorrow laden if, within the distant Aidenn, / It shall clasp a sainted maiden whom the angels name Lenore - / Clasp a rare and radiant maiden whom the angels name Lenore.” / Quoth the Raven ‘Nevermore’. (Edgar Allan Poe). FEATURED BY POPULAR ART – 20th May 2008 FEATURED BY BACK IN BLACK GROUP – 8th October 2009 /

  • As I’ve just uploaded Chameleon II, I thought I’d show you Chameleon I as well.

  • This is a new version of my 1997 painting. It contains two figures and three heads. Here is the earlier version:

  • I was looking at a photo of a china cat and decided to adapt it into a picture. FEATURED BY PENCIL DRAWING GROUP – 30th March 2009 FEATURED BY ALL THE COLORS OF THE RAINBOW GROUP – 20th August 2009.

  • Valle Crucis Abbey is in North Wales. My father was born in Wrexham and I love going to Wales. The hills have to be walked over to truly appreciate them. I often use ink and watercolour, but here I am trying ink and gouache. For those who are interested, this is A3 size (29.7cm x 42cm). FEATURED BY FINE ARTS GROUP – 16th July 2008 FEATURED BY WALES, RICH IN BEAUTY GROUP – 25th October 2009

  • I started this painting many years ago and never finished it. I’ve been working on it recently and here it is; hence the date 2008 on it. My wife and I and our children spent a happy afternoon at Stoke Bruerne and even went on one of the barges. We passed the famous barge used in the English children’s TV series Rosie and Jim, which sort of dates this painting. FEATURED IN FIRST THINGS GROUP – 14th September 2009

  • After my last butterfly picture Dimarie suggested I do another one. I enjoy drawing bricks and stones, so I decided to see if butterflies could be made from coloured bricks :) They can … and they can fly … well, in my little world they can :) I must mention that my wife, Trish, thought of the title, “brickerflies”. FEATURED BY NOT WHAT IT SEEMS – 28th March 2009 FEATURED BY AVANT GARDE GROUP – 15th September 2009

  • One of the loveliest family holidays we ever had was at the Isle of Wight. It had a lovely olde worlde feel about it that really suited me. This picture was done on A3 paper using coloured pencils. I’d like to thank Catherine Walker of Redbubble for suggesting the subject. FEATURED BY PENCILS GROUP – 14th November 2008 FEATURED BY PENCIL DRAWING GROUP – 15th November 2008 FEATURED BY ALL THE COLORS OF THE RAINBOW GROUP – 24th August 2009 / FEATURED BY HAND PAINTED OR DRAWN BUILDINGS GROUP – 1st September 2009

  • Catherine Walker of Redbubble was joking about how she’d love to buy a castle to live in and that reminded me of this drawing I once did of a stately home three miles from where I live. As the owners are finding it expensive to run it is now up for sale. Don’t all rush at once, but if you’d like a nice home with a history and (reputedly) the ghost of a lady dressd in white then here is the bargain of a lifetime … a mere snip at only £13.2 million ($26 million approx.). FEATURED IN THE FREEDOM TO SHINE GROUP – 29th March 2009 FEATURED IN HAND PAINTED OR DRAWN BUILDINGS AND ARCHITECTURE GROUP – 3rd May 2009 FEATURED ON REDBUBBLE’S OWN ART PAGE: FEATURED ART AND PHOTOGRAPHY – 5th June 2009

  • Here’s one I had on Redbubble a few months ago and took off ‘cos it didn’t get enough viewings. I thought I’d try again as I have more people watching me now. It’s a stylised iguana made to look like a dragon. It’s ink by the way.

  • I’ve always loved geraniums (pelargoniums) and I thought I’d do a still life of them, in my own style with added background :) I used Staedtler Fineliner pens and WH Smiths own brand of coloured pencils (as usual).

  • This is our youngest cat, Mitch, part Maine Coon and part goodness knows what :) The view you see is the close up view I see when Mitch walks up to my face when I am lying in bed :) I used Staedtler Fineliners and W.H. Smith’s own-brand coloured pencils. The picture is on A3 white card. FEATURED BY PAWS n CLAWS – 9th August 2009 / FEATURED BY FIRST THINGS GROUP – 9th August 2009. / FEATURED BY THE FINE ART OF PORTRAITURE GROUP – 14th August 2009

  • This watercolour is of a local church in Blyth, Northumberland, England. Here is my original version of this drawing, before i decided to stylise it: FEATURED BY CHRISTIAN CHURCHES, STATUES & CROSSES GROUP – 28th September 2009. / FEATURED BY HAND PAINTED OR DRAWN BUILDINGS OR ARCHITECTURE GROUP – 15th October 2009 /

  • Prince Charles allegedly talks to his plants. These could talk back :) Coloured pencils and fineliner pens.

  • Many artists like art to be serious and meaningful, which is fine by me, but hey, I think the world is big enough to have fun art as well as serious art. This is based on a fluffy toy, but I changed the colours of his scarf, added stripes and gave him stripes too. I used coloured pencils and fineliner pens for this. Beatrix Potter’s Peter Rabbit obviously influenced the manufacturers of this fluffy toy and I was probably think of him when I redesigned the scarf :) And here is the esteemed model himself: FEATURED BY FINE ARTS INFLUENCED BY LITERATURE GROUP – 11th October 2009 FEATURED BY RABBIT, RABBIT GROUP – 11th October 2009 FEATURED BY FIRST THINGS GROUP – 11th October 2009 / FEATURED BY ART AND STORIES MADE FOR CHILDREN – 15th October 2009 / FEATURED BY DIMENSIONS GROUP – 25th October 2009 / I wish to thank Peter the rabbit for being such an inspiration. This portrait I did of him was favourited 23 times and Featured twice … in just the first two days.

  • More fruit from my imagination :) I mainly used Staedtler Fineliner pens. BEST VIEWED LARGE. FEATURED BY JOURNAL JUNKIES GROUP – 5th November 2009 FEATURED BY I LOVE PATTERNS GROUP – 9th November 2009
