  • This image is NOT DIGITALLY MANIPULATED, the effect was achieved at the time of shooting. Amongst the motion of the observer and the interplay of the tree’s motion as the wind gently nudges her, a single branch stays static in frame, as it dances in time with the observer. For me this captures a dynamic sense of motion through a forest, the feeling of the wind blowing through the leaves of every tree of the forest, touching each one, as you gently able through, your perspecitve deepening as you pass through with eyes peeled wide open, your breath resonating with the whispers of nature. This truly is a vision only available IN THE MOMENT. Its multidimensional photography – length, height, depth, time, motion, and emotion, all within a single image. Thank Gaia for nature! This image was taken in the Mystic Monastic Mountains of Bulgaria in Northern Hemisphere’s Autumn.

  • Taken by JD Brummer for As Eye See Photography from a moving train in the Verde Valley of Arizona. This photo was “experimental” for me as I, being the photographer, was the one in motion trying to capture objects that were still. Then in the digital darkroom, it was challenging to define the trees, and bring depth to the “blurs”. I enjoyed working on this photograph from beginning to end.

  • Another Buddha Frog Series Frog image. Night shot, Backyard Jupiter Florida. Nikon D 300, Micro lens

  • Taken with a Canon PowerShot S3 IS, 6 megapixels. I took this picture when I was waiting for my son. He was at his soccer practice to select the players for the next summer team. Hope Team for Quebec Games, age 13. He is a real good goalkeeper. I lost any notion of time while shooting many pictures and I missed all the training. OOPSSS! AS IS We have decided The Compact Group 2 per Day to ask a featured member each week to nominate the image of the week. This week (January 21, 2009) it is a~m who has chosen Carole Brunet’s’ image Frozen 2 A-M said “I just love the clarity and crispness of this frozen moment in time… you can almost reach out and touch it – (and a sight we don’t get to see here too often in Oz, especially sweltering at the moment!)”

  • Natural simplicity, just as the lens captured it in my yard. No enhancement or cropping. It’s not nice to fool Mother Nature! This image was captured handheld with a Canon EOS 10D through a Canon EF 50mm f/2.5 Compact-Macro lens from approximately 8 inches away. Aperture was f/2.5 at 1/350th sec, no flash. • This is another new blossom on my neighbor’s gorgeous magnolia tree, in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The tree had just bloomed this week and the short-lived beauty will be fading very quickly. This shot was taken at sunset. This photo was taken hand-held (on a ladder) with a Canon EOS 10D with a Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro prime lens. The shutter speed was 1/500th sec at f/5.6, no flash. The camera’s ISO was set to 400. Your comments are always welcome! Constructive criticism is appreciated. © 2009 Gene Walls All copyright and reproduction rights are retained by the artist. • From Osaka-Info Natural park (quasi-national park) of arresting scenic beauty spreading through about 100- to 600- meter high mountains in the northern part of Mino City. In the park a long gorge runs through forests from the magnificent Mino Waterfall, about 33 m high and 5 m wide, forming a habitat for 980 species of plants and over 3,000 species of insects. Located in precious natural forests in Osaka Prefecture, the park is the western starting point of the Tokai Natural Trail. Visitors can enjoy seasonal changes in the scenery, such as cherry blossoms in spring, trees covered with ice and hanging icicles in winter and especially the brilliantly colored leaves late in fall. The Mino Mountains are an ancient sacred site of Mountain Buddhism, where there are old temples, including Ryuanji Temple (otherwise known as Mino Temple), an important training center said to have been established by En-no-gyoja, the founder of Shugendo. Mino Insect Museum, which is located on the way to the waterfall, is also well known. At the museum visitors can see not only about 10,000 samples of insects, but also over 200 live butterflies of about 30 species, and learn about their year-round ecology.
