  • Waterfall Bluff ~ Tasman Peninsula ~ Tas ~Aus. / I’d waited for the longest time here in between showers to get a clear shot of Cape Huay in the distance. Only one other hiker out in the rain who hung around for a few minutes and had a chat. I really enjoyed just sitting there for a couple hours and watching the, seals, dolphins and albatross off this magnificent section of coastline. It became obvious that the rain wasn’t going to clear so I earmarked this spot for a dawn shoot for the following days…thanks for any views and comments.

  • This landscape rose up before us on our way toward Lusk, Wyoming. The full moon was spectacular and when we came over a hill on the highway I saw this bluff and begged my husband to pull over so I could take a few pictures. Because it was nearly dark – of course – I needed to use my tripod and where we stopped was not exactly out of the way of traffic. My first attempt at taking the picture was foiled by the flashing hazard lights on our suburban. I thought my husband would lose it when I asked if he could please turn the lights of the truck off completely for a few seconds but he patiently complied and this was the resulting image. /

  • Barn Bluff as seen from Waterfall Valley on the Overland Track in Tasmania, Australia, at sunrise. The Cradle Mountain Lake St Clair National Park is most famous for the mountain for which the park shares its name. / It is a park that is also widely known for one of the great bushwalks of the world – the Overland Track. / In Winter 2007 I spent nine days traversing the entire park with all my camera gear. I was blessed with exceptional weather for that time of year. / This image was captured on the morning of the second day. It is the third highest mountain in Tasmania at 1559 metres. Dimensions: 3872×2592 pixels. Taken with a Nikon D200 camera. How much detail is there in my images? / This image has an example If you like this, you’ll probably like / my other images.

  • Took this shot of a juvenile Pacific Gull (Larus pacificus) at Red Bluff last week on a family holiday at Lake Tyers. Another shot that demonstrates the liberating power of my new 5DmkII as this sort of pic was difficult and expensive (on motor drive) for me to take with my old landscape optimized Velvia50 film set up. Camera: Canon EOS 5D mkII / Lens: EF 100-300 f/4.5-5.6 USM @ 300mm / Filter: UV / ISO: 200? / Shutter Speed: 1/250thsec / Aperture: f/13 / WB: Auto / Post production: jpeg, straightened, cropped and levels in Microsoft Office Picture Manager (yuk, I’ll redo it properly next week from the RAW in PS) Check out my Birds gallery for more avian delights. • This Oil Painting 16 X 20 stretched canvas is of the predawn fog at Deception Pass Bridge, Washington. Deception Pass, located at the northern end of Puget Sound, is a treacherous, narrow channel with turbulent waters, rapid tidal action, and rocky outcrops. It separates the high bluffs of Whidbey Island from those of Fidalgo Island. A rocky islet, Pass Island, rises in the mouth of the pass and divides it into two channels. Deception Pass Bridge connects Whidbey Island to Pass Island. / I lived on Whidbey Island for 3 years in the mid 60’s. / Created in my Grants Pass, Oregon Studio FEATURED IN / United States / Pacific NorthwestGroup / Welcome to Washington (the State) / Mornings & Evenings—Sunbeams & Storms / Impressionist Art / Fantastic Primitive Art

  • Straight after the bell had gone to close the final, a wave came through which contest winner Jordy Smith from South Africa paddled into. / It was too late to count for the contest and wouldnt have mattered anyway, so Jordy let loose with his own little “expression session” and gave us this MASSIVE air helicopter 360. / Right on the cutting edge of what is possible by the newest crop of surfers coming through. / Bluff Reef just south of Marrawah NW Tasmania Nikon D40 / Nikkor 18-200mm lens @200mm and cropped way to far / ISO400 / F5.6 / 1/1000th of a second / Polarised 626+ views featured in All Water in Motion group 10th October 2009 Top Ten finish in Catching the Surfer Challenge in Waves Group May/June 2009

  • Skaha Bluffs, Penticton BC Canada

  • A massive meteorite crater, west of Alice Springs — right in the heart of the Australian outback. scanned from slide taken on an OM2.

  • Another from my foray down to Barwon Heads. Camera: Canon 5DMKII / Lens: Canon 16-35 f2.8L / Focal Length: 16mm / Aperture: f18 / Shutter Speed: 1.3 seconds / ISO: 100 / Filter: 3 stop hard + 3 stop soft Lee ND Grads / Post Processing:Photoshop, blending, limited saturation. This is a blend of two images in Photoshop. The first had all this water movement in the foreground, but a very ‘nice’ shadow of myself against the bluff. The second was identical but didn’t have the good foreground and the shadow. / Although the image has been saturated slightly, the intense colours are mainly due to the use of the Grad filters.

  • Taken at Toronto’s Scarborough Bluffs, one of my fav spots for photography (I just love this old bridge). Actually, this fall image was taken in late September 2008, I often revisit this image to see what I can do to make it better. Applied several textures to enhance the fall colours and morning lighting. I often desaturate my textured images to give them an “old photo” look, but felt this one looked better as is. You be the judge. Thanks for viewing and your comments appreciated.
