This one is not in the charity series. I took it at Port Melbourne because I thought it served as a great analogy for adventure. It captured the last moment of contact with the known before leaping off into the unknown.
Somethings are better second time around.

Under the boundless soothing sky your eyes reach the edge of the world and still … everything you are left to dream about is in your past.

I took my son up to Mt Victoria, NSW, Aust. for his first steam train ride. I thought I would try to capture it a bit differently to normal. Let me know what you think.
Used a different setting on this one to get the blue. It’s ok.
Often my life feels like this – like a lively, bright red thread, flying through a vast, dirty and decaying world. Sometimes it zooms about as if on some frantic search, and other times it just floats wherever the wind carries it, but always there is the sense that I don’t belong. I am flying, at a velocity so fast that I must be approaching the speed of light! I see nothing but sky above. Below are strangely familiar mountains, rivers and valleys, all zipping past in a surrealistic blur. Where am I? Where am I going? Have I died? My destination suddenly becomes apparent, right there before my eyes. The farm that has been the reoccurring focus of my dreams… This photo is totally “as-is”, directly from the camera, with no post processing at all! It was shot using an old photographer’s technique, with a special “One-Touch” zoom lens. The farmhouse was framed and manually focused at 350mm. The lens was then set to the 35mm focal length, without any other adjustment changes. I fired the shutter with a remote release while immediately zooming back out to 350mm, while the shutter remained open. You are looking at the un-touched result. This photo was just taken on August 3rd, 2009. It was shot with a Canon EOS 10D using a Canon EF 35-350mm f/3.5-5.6L zoom lens. The shutter speed was 1/10th sec. at f/16. The camera’s ISO was set to 100. A Manfrotto tripod was used with a remote shutter release cable. First Attempt Your comments are always welcome!
