  • This door always stands out to me when I visit the old fortress in the historic center of Ankara, and I finally gave in and decided to make it a picture. Flaking paint in blue, yellow and red on an abandoned house badly in need of renovation frame a window reflection of the restored Ottoman-era houses opposite.

  • In my grand-parents’ farm, this barrel used to save rain water from drainpipe. My grandfather, with his bucket, watered his leek, oignons and others vegetables perfectly brought into alignment, with this water… / ... / Ages ago… Coux (near Brinon-sur-Beuvron), Nièvre, France / Featured twice :

  • “Blue” is part of the “Everyday Things” collection….although it looks very casual, it’s actually a deliberately planned work in inks and liquid colour on clayboard... / Still Life with Picture wire / Enigma…A Stii Life / Still Life with an Awl / The Legacy

  • “Door#6” is drawn in Pastel, Sanguine and Charcoal on Clayboard, my latest favourite support for all media…it is not an easy surface to use as paint is not absorbed as on paper, but I am loving it especially for drawings like this one..the drawing is subtitled “Rust” as I want to give the sensation of rust…the gritty feel of it under your hands, and the warm ochre and sienna tones that appear when metal is exposed to weather for a long time…you will note that in this series the doors are not really there…these are images of the hardware that make doors work the way they are supposed to work…this is an old handle left behind by the previous owners of my house…I have treasured it….I think Janus would be proud.... Rust conjures all sorts of images…it is either something we want to eradicate with steel wool and CLR, or if you’re like me you love it’s textures and colours…in reading about rust I meditated on several lines I came across… / Rusting realities obscure our view… / Memories become like rust, eaten over the years… / Rusted, Abandoned, Safe.. / Rust clings tight, covers and grows… / I save rust / Door#5 / Door #4 / Door#3 / Door #2 / Door #1

  • This is the BP bridge in Millennium Park. Millenium Park is in downtown Chicago. It was designed by the artist Frank Gehry. This bridge is 925-feet long and winds and turns like a snake. This is Frank Gehry’s first bridge. It allows you to view the Chicago skyline in a unique way. It also has a 5% slope to allow easy access for people who are physically challenged. “Chicago, in my humble opinion, is, architecturally, the best American city traditionally and just visually. It’s so exciting.” / -Frank Gehry I never met Frank, but if I did, I think I would like him.

  • Yosemite Falls and a boardwalk leading to it. Taken in early June. I would like to come back to this same exact spot someday and shoot this when a storm is approaching with some dramatic clouds above the mountain. Every day was a clear, bluebird sky when I was there and the weather did not offer me any drama.
