  • Shalom (שָׁלוֹם) is a Hebrew word meaning peace, Nothing missing, Nothing broken, wellbeing, and complete, and used to mean hello, and goodbye. As it does in English, it can refer to either peace between two entities (especially between man and God or between two countries), or to the well-being, welfare or safety of an individual or a group of individuals. It is also used as a greeting to either say hello or farewell, and is found in many other expressions and names. Its equivalent cognate in Arabic is Salam, Shlomo (ܫܠܡܐ) in Syriac-Assyrian and sälam in Ethiopian Semitic languages from the Hebrew root shin-lamed-mem (ש.ל.ם).

  • Emotive piece of art drawn in Graphite Pencil…L K Southward- Iconic Art UK Nominated for ‘Pay it Forward’ by Andy Mueller IPA “I have so many favorite works of art on the bubble that it is tough to narrow it down to just one. But every time I see this one, I know it is the one piece that triggers the most emotion out of me. So, I’d love to submit my Pay It Forward to a wonderful British Artist L K Southward and her graphite pencil drawing called “This is your son”. Every time I see this drawing, I have tears welling up in my eyes. It is such a strong piece of work, and she clearly is a very talented artist.” Featured in the group THE EEG on 9th May 2009 Featured in the War – lest we forget group for the 141st Memorial Day (1868-2009) Featured in the Pencil Drawing group on 13th September 2009 Original drawing sold on 29th April 2009

  • Bleeding love Where are we, what the hell is going on / The dust has only just begun to fall / Closed off from love, spinning round again / We didn’t need the pain, twice or thrice was enough / It was all in vain, time never ceases to pass / We’re frozen in this cycle of destruction Oil marks appear on walls, / where pleasure moments hung before / Sweeping insanity, sweeping insanity / Oh the insensitivity Something happened on the way, we lost our way / There was a very first time with us, we tasted the displeasure / The bile of unhappy endings and scorched earth policies / We let our hearts melt, / disappearing into the very ground we tread upon / We lost what was true, found something false to replace it / People get ready, there’s a train a coming / And everyone’s looking round, / but we no longer know who is going crazy / I know I’m going crazy Few are bold to say without care for circumstance / I don’t care what they say, I am still in love with you / Torturous souls that love the very thing that makes them sad / They try to pull us away, but they don’t know the truth / Our heart’s are crippled by the vein they keep on closing / They cut us open, and we keep bleeding / We just keep bleeding love We tried hard not to hear, but they talk so loud / Their pandering and propaganda piercing our ears / Question and they try to fill us with doubt / Our goal is to keep me from falling Nothing in this world is greater than the rush that comes / with our patriotic embrace / In this world of loneliness we must cease to lose face / Now everyone around us is going crazy, maybe, maybe It’s draining our history, it’s draining our souls / They find it hard to believe that we pity them / It is all of us who will be wearing these scars / For everyone to see Taken w/Nikon D2Xs + Nikkor 300/2.8 AFS VR

  • Featured in Hummingbirds of the world These two Green Violetears Hummingbirds were really going at it this morning in the José Celestino Mutis Botanical Garden. This Garden in the heart of Bogotá, Colombia is a haven of all kinds of wildlife, birds and insects. The prize this morning…the flowers on these long stems. I was fortunate to get them at this precise moment because they were pretty much just a blur for the rest of the time I watched them!

  • Well this one started out as a drawing of a tornado, then I started to see mechnical bits and pieces in it and then….oh well you know how it goes :) Storm Cruiser The remnants of the Bubble Clan watched awestruck near the base of, Last Stand Hill, as the Monolithic Storm Cruiser, inched its deadly way across the plane. They were not its target, for now, but they would not be able to stay here for long. The mountain ledge photon cannon, was automatically readying itself. Its threat detectors had been activated days ago when the battle tank had first appeared on their horizon. It seemed to offer little hope against the approaching monster, but it may buy them a little time. They had not expected the war. The Bubblers were a peaceful, intelligent and cooperative artistic community. They created living artworks which reflected an inner contact with the pulse of life itself. Initially they supplied the subtle sense needs of the other communities on this planet, their home, Klezz. Then as demand for their amazing works grew, news of this spread across the galaxy and soon they were trading across the divide, linking happily to other worlds, through CWT (Cosmic Wormhole Travel ) Now, paralysed with fear, Bubblers could only speculate about what had gone wrong. The CWT was supposed to filter out sentient beings of a dark and negative nature, but somehow the Kalmardans had arrived and from the safety of their giant, dark, disk-headed tyrannosaur like tanks, they crunched their way coldly and efficiently across the surface of Klezz. The cruisers had been designed with horrifying ingenuity. They created and harnessed electrical storms. The static required to fire their deadly lightning-blaster cannons was created by counter rotating successive layers of metallic disks at high speed. The air trapped in between the disks was ionised in a fraction of a second and the energy directed in concert to the unfortunates, in the designated target area. The sound alone was enough to terrify populations into submission. Should that fail, as it had in Bubble City, then the high energy bolts would cut through the toughest Bubble Domes, searching out weak points at the entrances. Kal, wiped a tear from his face and called to the others. It was time to move.

  • The other casualties of war—those left behind, are seldom considered after the folded flag is given in memory of their loved one’s sacrifice. This piece pays homage to those left behind, and explores “Feeling the Void”. It features the riderless horse, which, although reserved for colonels, or above, in the Army or Marine Corps, here, symbolizes the soul of the lost soldier. The horse here is a Friesian horse, on which a star blaze has been added as a tribute to “Black Jack”, a long serving riderless horse. The young woman represents a daughter, nearly grown, for all intents and purposes, but always and forever “Daddy’s girl”. Take a moment with me and remember the wives, husbands, children, brothers, and sisters of the lost soldiers who paid their respective country with their life and, also, the lives of those they left behind.
