  • Putsborough is a beach on the coast of North Devon, England, between Croyde and Woolacombe. Putsborough beach is situated on the southern end of Woolacombe Sands. The surf works at all tide stages but mid to high tend to have an edge. It is the only beach in the area that benefits from some protection from the South/Southwesterly winds, thanks to Baggy Point headland. Peaks are scattered all along its length. It has a fairly slow waves which are suitable for beginners. The sandy beach has some rocky outcrops which provide paddling pools.

Each step closer to the water felt different than the other times. The ocean tickled his toes as a wave leapt forward, thrashed itself up…

  • Do you see her? The beautiful Honu, the endangered Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle is just barely visible swimming in the ocean before me, rising in the wave, feeding near the shoreline of Makena at sunrise. The sacred island of Kanaloa, (also known as Kaho’olawe Island), is visible on the horizon. The ‘Alalakeiki Channel separates the island of Kanaloa from Maui. It was a beautiful morning on the gold coast. Makena Maui Hawai’i Copyright © Sharon Mau 2009 / All Rights Reserved Vision of the Protect Kaho‘olawe ‘Ohana: / “The kino of Kanaloa is restored. Forests and shrublands of native plants and other biota clothe its slopes and valleys. Pristine ocean waters and healthy reef ecosystems are the foundation that supports and surrounds the island. Na Po’e Hawai’i care for the land in a manner which recognizes the island and ocean of Kanaloa as a living spiritual entity. Kanaloa is a pu’uhonua and wahi pana where Native Hawaiian cultural practices flourish. The piko of Kanaloa is the crossroads of past and future generations from which the Native Hawaiian lifestyle is spread throughout the islands. / Kanaloa Hawaiian green sea turtles are listed as threatened species The Honu are found throughout the Hawaiian Archipelago. This is a range of about 2450 km. The Honu is a gentle vegetarian, feeding almost exclusively on algae. The most valuable of all reptiles, they are a part of Hawaiian culture and were once rightfully and responsibly harvested for their skins, calipee, delicious meat and shells, but are no longer hunted on the islands of Hawai’i. This is because when foreigners came to the Hawaiian Islands, they abused the natural resources and exploited the turtles, hunting them almost to extinction for profit and export to other countries. To save the turtles, they are now protected. In some areas of Hawai’i (Honokowai) more than 90% of the green sea turtles are afflicted with fibropapilloma tumors. / They are the largest of the hard-shelled marine turtles and a common adult weight is 115 kg with an average length of over 90 cm. The Hatchlingsare about 4-5 cm in length. It is one of my dreams to interact with these beautiful creatures and photograph them in the ocean, underwater. • Taken Tin Can Bay Qld, Australia. A beautiful little town, perfect for a weekend away.

  • 4.30am Frinton beach, anyone got any coffee? A nice dawn, fresh and warm, the sort that gives you a hug as you walk out the door, full of promise and anticipation. This shot was quite early on in the state of play just as I was getting into my stride. I thought I’d try and use some of the pools of water left by the tide. The trick was to line up the detail in the sky between the posts and get a nice reflection using what little light there was from the sky. As I was saying….. coffee anyone?

  • This was taken in Ilfracombe Harbour, North Devon at high tide in the summer. At low tide, there is no water in this part of the harbour at all and you can walk along the sand.

  • another beautiful night in the shoalhaven, looking towards vincentia from plantation point

  • Experimenting with Christmas deco.

  • Almost a year ago on the beach not far from my house. Canon 40D / Gabriola Island BC Canada

  • Another shot from my adventure yesterday morning at Berkeley. This time I’ve really tried something a little different. I took my Cokin Grad ND 121m filter and tipped it on its head and moved it up in the holder so that it was sitting just below the horizon line. The effect was to stop down the sun but leave the sky better exposed. This is the effect that I’m hoping to see from my planned purchase of Singh Ray reverse grad.. mmm.. new filters ;-) Hope you enjoy these two stranded little boats and a bit of sunrise joy.
