  • A shot taken at the Night Market in Bangkok. The place is full of life and colours and smells and sounds. A must see for anyone visiting the Land of Smiles.

  • This guy was pretty cool, sitting there minding his own business, and I just had to get the shot. But as I lifted the camera and looked through the lens he just broke into this mean stare into the lens like he was gonna hurt me. I saw it and quickly pressed the shutter. Later I complimented him on his tattoos and showed him the shot and it was then that his frown turned into a broad grin…phew!

  • Sometimes even mistakes can turn out right. Here I woke up really early, way too early as I misjudged the time for a sunrise. So for an hour or so I was just waiting for the light. As the moon descended this opportunity arouse. This shot is taken at a point where on one side of the beach you can see east and watch the sunrise and basically just turn around and face west and watch the moon set. At this point the resort was abandoned, hence the chair. I only moved it slightly to improve the composition. Photo Taken: 04-Jan-2007 / Time: Early, somewhere between 5 and 6am / Conditions: Calm, really beautiful   /   /   /   /   /   /   /   Some other seascape art: / /   /   / /   /   /

  • A small seaside temple at a place called Bang Saen is beautifully decorated with bells, lanterns, ribbons and statuary. These lanterns caught my eye and I liked how the red contrasted with the blue of the sea and sky.

  • I was walking through Chinatown and snatching images of people in the market and food stalls. I stumbled into a very narrow laneway which had a small yet beautifully decorated temple at the end. As I walked around, this dragon caught my attention. I have taken hundreds of dragon images but this is still my very favourite.

  • One thing I learned a long time ago is when concentrating on an image, don’t forget to look behind you. I was busy photographing fishing boats at the opposite end of the beach and when I turned around I saw this beautiful light as a sudden rain squall approached. I, literally, snapped the image and then ran for cover as the rain pelted down. Taken with Nikon D100 and 12-24 lens. Featured in Sea group, Going Coastal and Featured Features groups.

  • A row of fishing boats, still water and a beautiful blue sky provide a superb scene for a peaceful image. I took this about 4 years back and am still always drawn to it. A quiet little beach on Koh Samui where fishermen live and work. Featured in JPG Cast-Offs and Going Coastal groups. / Featured in Art In Asia group – 19th October, 2009

  • The sea at Koh Gai (Chicken Island) is warm and teams with fish. A great place for swimming, snorkelling and relaxing. Where would you rather be ?

  • The Similan Islands are simply jewels in the Andaman Sea…Sth. West Thailand Coast. I don’t think I’ve ever seen water quite so blue and clear…and that’s saying something having dived for around 20 years now. The Similans with their large granite boulders leading into the turquoise water and powder white beaches also being a photographers paradise. Polarizer getting a work out on this day…!!. |

  • Looking out from Poda Island in Thailand to that well known outcrop. / My polarizer went crazy on this blue blazer day!

  • One of the many rocky limestone islands in Thailands Phang Gna Bay…

  • Walking along the beach, I saw this man about 200 metres away carrying his net. I ran up the beach as I knew he would soon cast it. When I got there I took this first image and then several others as he cast again. This was the one though. Krabi, Thailand. Featured in JPG Cast-Offs / Featured in Going Coastal – 19th August, 2009

  • My Long Tail boat..on another island around the fabulous South of Thailand :)) Image description speaks for itself.. One day…I ‘ll go back … Thankyou to Catherine Veal for describing this image as wonderfully as this :- Shangri-La is a fictional place described in the 1933 novel Lost Horizon by British author James Hilton. In the book, “Shangri-La” is a mystical, harmonious valley, gently guided from a lamasery, enclosed in the western end of the Kunlun Mountains. Shangri-La has become synonymous with any earthly paradise but particularly a mythical Himalayan utopia—a permanently happy land, isolated from the outside world. In the novel Lost Horizon, the people who live at Shangri-La are almost immortal, living years beyond the normal lifespan. The word also evokes the imagery of exoticism of the Orient.*

  • Watercolour on Fabriano Watercolour paper. Original Sold. / Three great kids who are related to some of our Lisu friends…actually the exact relationship is hard to figure as we only speak limited Lisu and these kids seem equally at home whether with Grandma, Aunty or Mother. They are dirty and scruffy but perfectly happy!

  • Bangkok – Thailand

  • I took this on Koh Tao island, Thailand. There were lots of these characteristic boats floating in the crystal clear shallows.
