I’ve been hanging out to see of my new D-SLR would take infrared images….we’ve had heavy rain here for almost 2 weeks..thank goodness the sun is shining today. This is my first attempt. I set a custom white balance (with the help of the manual) and trotted off down to the lake. This is a 20sec exposure at f/6.3. Focal length 18mm and ISO 400. I channel swapped the colours in Paintshop Pro and this is what I got. Haven’t fiddled at all apart from that. This is what the original looked like straight off my camera (with a custom WB) I had to set the camera to manual, focus first and then attach the filter. A bit of fuss and bother as I never had to do that with my old FujiFilm, but I suppose I will get used to it.

A digitally tweaked image of one of the giant pylons stretching across the Bristol Channel between England and Wales. I see it as a hint that we mustn’t take our always-available electricity for granted!
