Of the more than 300 species of shark found in Australian waters, there are only a couple of species that are known to attack humans. Yet 2009 will surely go down in the history books as having a record number of shark attacks. / / This summer alone it seemed like every week there was another person emerging from the water with bits missing. Sometimes twice a week. That’s if they were lucky enough to come out of the water at all. / / And even though you are more likely to die of a bee sting, there are now cries to increase the quota of shark fishing to cull the populations that have been living in our coastal waters for millions of years. / / I think it’s important for us all to respect that the moment we step off the land and into the sea, we are out of our depth and are no longer at the top of the food chain. / / I’m doing this shirt to present the lighter side of these primordial creatures and point out that they aren’t menacing. They’re just hungry. / / /

  • Stretching is the deliberate act of lengthening of muscles, in order to increase muscle flexibility and joint range of motion. Stretching is a natural activity often performed without thinking by most people and many animals, and can simply be pleasurable. It can be accompanied by yawning. Stretching often occurs right after waking from sleep, after long periods of inactivity, or after exiting confined spaces.(wikipedia.org)

  • The Greyhound is a breed of dog that has been primarily bred for coursing game and racing. A combination of long, powerful legs, deep chest and aerodynamic build allows it to reach speeds of up to 72 km/h (45 mph)[1] in less than one and a half seconds, or within 3 strides. Until the early twentieth century, greyhounds were principally bred and trained for coursing. During the early 1920s, modern greyhound racing was introduced into the United States and introduced into United Kingdom and Ireland in 1926. (wikipedia.org)

  • Swimming is movement without artificial assistance. Its primary uses are bathing, cooling, travel, fishing and escape. An individual’s ability to swim can be judged by speed or stamina. Almost all mammals can swim by instinct. Bats, kangaroos, moles and sloths can swim, despite their rather strange shapes. The few exceptions include apes and possibly giraffes. Land birds can swim or float for at least some time. Ostriches, cassowaries and tortoises can swim.

  • Bathing is the immersion of the body in a fluid, usually water or an aqueous solution. Some spa facilities provide bathing in various other liquids such as chocolate or mud. There have been examples of bathing in champagne, baked beans and all manner of other substances. A bath or tub is a plumbing fixture used for bathing. Most modern bathtubs are made of acrylic or fiberglass, but alternatives are available in enamel over steel or cast iron, and occasionally wood. A bathtub is usually placed in a bathroom either as a stand-alone fixture or in conjunction with a shower. / Modern bathtubs have overflow and waste drains and may have taps mounted on them. They may be built-in or free standing or sometimes sunken. Until recently, most bathtubs were roughly rectangular in shape but with the advent of acrylic thermoformed baths, more shapes are becoming available. Bathtubs are commonly white in color although many other colors can be found. The process for enamelling cast iron bathtubs was invented by the Scottish born American David Dunbar Buick. Two main styles of bathtub are common: Western-style bathtubs in which the bather lies down. These baths are typically shallow and long. Eastern style bathtubs in which the bather sits up. These are known as ofuro in Japan and are typically short and deep. Bathing usually involves the removal of at least some clothing; normally in private baths all clothing is removed. The amount of clothing removed depends on circumstance, custom, and willingness of bathers to reveal themselves. A swimsuit, swimming costume, or bathing suit is a garment designed for swimming or bathing.
