So many images on redbubble are stunning, but it’s the rare one that sticks with you. I’d like to nominate just such an image – Barfly by Shanina Conway. I wrote the following in the long “barfly”comments column – wow, tragic, elegant, rheumy-eyed human dignity slipping into darkness, the eyes red as an open wound, her shadow the color of poison.. It’s one of my favorite works of art. / Congratulations, Shanina, and thanks for sharing it on redbubble.
having given myself the afternoon to spend with redbubble I’ve decided to post a wildcard image into the fashion competion. Originally shot on velvia in available light and if you look really closely the model has a camera in her crotch. :) / This is a companion image to “Bloom” these look really good framed. hint hint :)

Medium: Acrylic and Watercolour Paint on Paper / Size: A4 / Description: About an octopus who has developed a suit so that he may walk with the humans. A piece to fulfill my curiosity with octopuses and old looking diving helmets. The character’s odd infatuation with the human race mirrors my own with his species. Completed in 2008. views: 3424 / favs: 51 Completed 2004 age 18 I was inspired by the Japanese artist Hiroshi Senju, who tends to limit his colors in his paintings. Sometimes he paints an image where the background is the complimentary colors of the subject. His style is simple but at the same time intense, where the foreground stands out from the complimentary background. Medium: Watercolors This is a painting done in my sketchbook. The paper isn’t watercolor paper, but at least more durable than regular printing paper. The Sea Venture was one of the first ships to arrive in Bermuda. It was thrown accidentally off course by a hurricane and landed on the reefs intact. Its original course was with a fleet from England headed towards / Jamestown, Virginia to aid in the colonization. From being shipwrecked, the crew and passengers of the Sea Venture settled in Bermuda and benefitted from its tropical paradise and set up a small colony. This painting is a Mixed Media piece, combining original digital photography taken in Bermuda by me SBC, with my painting, and drawings. It is intended to capture the natural and surreal beauty of Bermuda through my eyes. This art won an Honorable Mention Award in the Rowayton Art Show in 2006 and First Place in the Darien Art Show in 2007. It is presently being considered for exhibition at the Royal Navy Dockyard Museum in Bermuda. Thank you for your interest, comments and purchases!

Placed 7th in the Best Of Featured Blue Works challenge. Recently I was asked where I get my inspiration from, and to be honest, I have no real answer to that. Sure, I could say the music I listen to, the stories and poems I read, but that doesn’t really explain why certain images and ideas come to me. Reality has never really done it for me, and I remember being a young child who wondered why life had to consist of only the normal, boring, everyday routine. Why did I have to live vicariously through films like “The Little Mermaid” and “Alice and Wonderland”? Why couldn’t I make this abstract longing for the surreal and the impossible come to life on my own terms? My dream has always been to give life to the ideas that come to me, to make them visible. Tangible. I live my dream every day. Stock Credits / Model / Background from ImageAfter.com / Stock copyrights remain the property of their respective owners.
