  • The cassette tape, I couldn’t resist :) Detail of graphic: /

  • Ink, some graphite and charcoal on paper. Robert Johnson was truly the grandfather of blues. Inspiring such musicians as Eric Clapton, Muddy Waters and the Rolling Stones. His music has deeply affected my love for blues and music in general. My portrait of Robert is a small tribute to the amazing body of work he produced. Through every layer of pencil and every stroke of my hand, I tried to capture the essence of Mr. Johnson onto paper. I depicted every detail in my portrait, from the old curtain hung behind him to the design on the blanket he sits on. Each pinstripe was painstakingly reproduced as well as the weathering on his guitar. My desired end result is that you will feel like you are looking at an aged photo of Robert Johnson. I believe when you truly study this piece you will hear his music and see the richness of his character portrayed in through my pencils. • a grump of blister-bodied Grinners swim past the good natured sea creature… I liked this bit of my larger “Sea Creature” pic, so while I am finishing that, I thought this section might make a cool card. I’ll upload it and see :)

  • Pen sketch on to burnt and stained paper. / (Click on image for a better view)

  • I am occasionally asked how I start the crazy pics :) This is my concept sketch for “Sea Creature” / The good-natured sea creature gazes benignly at the nervous Grinners as they swim past, in their usual backwards style. The poison blisters on the Grinners’ backs were fully inflated, as though they expected trouble. Observers in the underwater viewing deck, were making notes. Temperatures had risen alarmingly in the Nglishoop sea and creatures like the Blister-bodied Grinners were stressed as a result of these changes and their response was to remain in defence mode. This was costing them valuable energy though, as it was usually reserved for short fight or flight occasions. They were aware, in their remarkably evolved brains, that something was not right, but nothing in their evolutionary coding had prepared them for anything like this. These brightly coloured underwater imps, were a critical part of the reef biome and the researchers were worried. Although they were terrestrial beings, the observers knew that their lives were inextricably bound to events that occurred in this underwater world. Time was running out… 5000+views

  • LET ME JUST SAY FIRST OFF THAT I AM VERY VERY PROUD OF THIS IMAGE! LOL / I WORK AS A PHOTOGRAPHER IN A HOTEL TAKING CANDID PICTURES OF THE GUESTS BEING ACTIVE. I TOOK THIS OF A LITTLE GIRL PLAYING IN THE POO. SHE HAD GONE UNDERTHE WATER AND I STOOD WITH MY CAMERA FOCUSED ON THE WATER ABOVE WHERE SHE WOULD EMERGE. I MANAGED TO CAPTUER HER HEAD THE SPLIT SECOND IT BURST FORTH FROM THE WATER. THIS IMAGE HAS NOT BEEN PHOTOSHOP-ED AND TEH ONLY THING DONE TO IT TO BRING FORTH THE DETAIL IN THE WATER AND THE EYES WAS TO ENHANCE THE SHARPNESS AND A TOUCH OF CONTRAST AND SATURATION THEN WITH A SLIGHT BLUE TINT TO BRING THE DETAIL OF THE WATER INTO SHARPER FOCUS, WHICH IN TURN GIVES THE ICE CHILLED LOOK. THIS IS THE ORIGINAL JUST TWEEKED TO ENHANCE THE DETAIL. / TAKEN WITH A NIKON D60 USING 55-200mm
