I photographed this Seagull atop these fishing nets on the wharf. This Seagull was so regally posed as if he was Poseidon himself. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography / / / /

You give me the rules / You give me the guidelines / You give me the tools / And then you withdraw to the sidelines / as you leave instruction for me: / Put it all to good use, be creative … and be free ! / In bewilderment I stare at what you have left me / How! How do I use any of this to create a feeling of glee? I look to see what others do / I listen to hear what others say / I look for sages, I look for you / I perceive so many – so many who stray / I am lost … and I do not know what to do / So I sit and I stare … and for now … I stay As time goes by / all I wish for / is to fly The tools / The rules / The guidelines / ... and you – gone from the sidelines What was the purpose, what was it for / You had said to me: / Be creative and be free / And so I lay it all out, out on the floor / I decide to look for that feeling of glee Forgetting the limits and the boundaries / of the rules and the guidelines / I set to work with all before me / And I create / At first haphazardly / I create / That reality That sets me free ! ~ ~ I was contemplating the advice parents give their children, and the ever natural progression of independence developed by youngsters as they learn to forge their own way, navigate the seas and lands and skies of their own lives … ... my ponderings were, that the best any of us can do for another is to share as many tools as we know, and then … yes – set each other free … because we each need to live and experience and create our own lives in our own unique way – we each have a lifetime :) / And so my thoughts wandered specifically to my mum who passed away due to cancer winning out over her some years ago. And on the subject of mums and cancer, then I thought of Marj whom I wrote this piece for as she is currently fighting breast cancer … ~ ~ All proceeds from sales of this image to be donated to Cancer Research UK Canon EOS 450D 18-55mm kit lens Featured in Out of the Blue in June 2009 … thank you so much !!! :)
