Dragonfly taking a well deserved rest. I watched this little critter zipping by, diving, chasing others and even mating frantically for quite a while before it finally gave me a chance to take this photograph. I don’t know what drives these things; but if we could tap its energy, we’d have no more fuel shortage. / The photo is of a blue dragonfly, pondhawk or Libellula of some type. I have had trouble identifying it, so anyone knows what it is I’d appreciate your letting me know. / Photo data: Sigma 105mm lense; f/2.8, ISO 100

A fat, full Stellar’s Jay at Lake Tahoe. This was shot in the Fall and the colors were blazing behind him.

I was in the park for a full twelve days, and just being able to see Half Dome while the sun lit it’s face turned out to be a rare event. I do have those shots, but the way the clouds covered the vertical face of this magnificent rock in this shot, mirroring the shape behind it, caught my eye.

The last night of our trip I camped out for two hours waiting for the clouds to do something interesting and for the sun to set, I took many exposures, and hardly know which is the one to focus on now… heh

I guess she is having a little break. I used someone’s photo as a reference for this by the way, But I don’t know who took the photo (it’s all in russian or something. got the reference photo from widelec.org) I don’t want to take credit for the composition etc. It’s just practice for painting.
