  • I finally bought a simple macro lens for my new camera and this is my first official macro shot I’m adding. This is actually tiny (about 3-4cm or just over 1 inch) dried up piece of twisted grape vine I picked off the fence with a water drop which was reflected by the sun. It’s definitely different to my usual work but why not?! It reminds me of a lantern..

  • Here’s a photo of my little girl taken noon today basking in the warm sun at the local beach. I just find this image very relaxing

  • Here is a photo I took this evening when I went to watch the sunset with hubby and the kids, it was such a beautiful sunset tonight so I though I would share, I have a few others but I might upload them in the next few days. Sold: Cards and medium mounted print of Last Light :o) Thank you !!!

  • Here is a sunset capture with my two boys. They are very close and are not only brothers but best friends and love doing everything together :o)

  • Arcylic painting with mixed media. This idea was taken from my young childhood days sketchbook . / Sometimes i used to go in a big field, away from it all.. / with my skecthbook and paints, looking up at the sun, to me the sun’s rays used to look like all these sparkling, and dazzling rays, coming towards me. With the fields and corn everywhere, i used to see patterns and images , as the breeze blew them into this and that shape, or is it, and always be, the fact i just have a creative head with illusions in me, .............. don’t know, will anyone ever understand how i see things….......

  • A reworking of a previous photo / / Fall 2007, Tucson, AZ / /

  • The evening sky 2 days ago was momentarily spectacular (thank goodness my red bubble winter training meant i had my camera with me …) / I love how the rays are in three distinct sectors but don’t know why that is … :) Taken with fuji finepix A500 pocket camera

  • The “Blowhole” Beachport South Australia. Last light tonight on the way home from Robe and just had to stop for the light! Best viewed large.

  • In life as well as fishing it’s all about the journey! / As the sunrise burned through the fog early Sunday morning, on Clear Lake near Hunstville, Ontario, two fishermen enthusiastically set out for their favourite fishing spot… / This shot was as a result of an early morning walk in / August 2008 in the fog: part planning, part serendipity. I particularly like the fact that compared to a lot of fog shots it displays color, to I think, an advantage and shows the promise of a beautiful sunny summer day emerging… Nikon D40, Nikkor 18-55mm lens Featured in the group Ontario November 2009 / Top Ten placement in the Summer challenge for the group Ontario November 2009 / Top Ten Placement in the Nikon D40 Users, Masterpiece challenge, September 2009 / Featured in the Nikon D40 Users group, July 2009 / Top Ten in the Journey or Destination challenge for the First Things group, July 2009 / Featured in the Outsiders, March 2009 / Featured in Canada: The Great White North group September 2008 / Featured in the Nirvana group September 2008 / Avatar for Shots In The Fog group October 2008 / Featured in the ImageWriting group November 2008 / Featured in the 100% group. • What do you call the light that permanently imprints itself into the deepest corner of your cerebral real estate? Just a memorable one, divine, sublime? The star was going down fast, as it was just a matter of ‘to get it over and done with‘ a daily sunset routine – until that moment. Like it was switched on by some all powerful hand residing somewhere in the center of a kingdom of light, the sunbeam reached across the valley, bringing all the associated attributes with it, like joy and warmth, just for a few moments, before disappearing altogether. The blue cold haze drowned the beautiful Hawkes Bay valley, but not before the last ray of sun got there first. I was standing in awe … for a while in fact, still in disbelief. Review button and LCD screen confirmed it did happen. Sweet. I’ll treasure selfishly the melody of breeze passing through the treetops, the smell of golden grass and feel of fallen leafs under my feet. Not to worry, I left something to share with you. Here it is.

  • The water was so clear over in The Maldives that you could clearly see from about 15 meters away. I miss it :)

One fellow even told me that he took my photo to his psychiatrist because he thought he was “seeing a face” as well, and couldn’t believe his own eyes! (LOL!) Anyhow, / his doctor agreed it looked like a face to him too, but also assured him it was only the clouds:).. / /

The sun teaches us how to use clouds to reflect its beauty and transform darkness into brilliant rays of hope for the future if we can look beyond the cloud! /

  • Yum-Yum’s song. / The sun, whose rays / Are all ablaze / With ever-living glory, / Does not deny / His majesty — / He scorns to tell a story! / He don’t exclaim, / “I blush for shame, / So kindly be indulgent.” / But, fierce and bold, / In fiery gold, / He glories all effulgent! I mean to rule the earth, / As he the sky — / We really know our worth, / The sun and I! / I mean to rule the earth, / As he the sky — / We really know our worth, / The sun and I! Sung by Yum Yum, in The Mikado / Lyrics WS Gilbert 1836-1911 / Composer A Sullivan 1842-1900 It just had to be. This song had been circulating in my head for a while and I knew I had two images which belonged together / The sun’s rays rising from the soft billowing clouds create an illusion of up lighting on the beautifully back lit Lesser Snow Goose at the University of York. / One of my very first PS compilations. • Palm Silhouettes / Sunset Christmas Day on Maui The Adventurer “Dusk on the sea; the fading twilight shifts / The night wind bears the ocean’s whisper dim wind, on your bosom many a phantom drifts - A silver star climbs up the blue world rim. / Wind, make the green leaves dance above me here And idly swing my silken hammock – so; / Now, on that glimmering molten silver mere / Send the long ripples wavering to and fro. / And let your moon-white tresses touch my face And let me know your slim-armed, cool embrace While to my dreamy soul you whisper low. Dream – aye, I’ve dreamed since last night left her tower And now again she comes on star-soled feet. Welcome, old friend; here in this rose-gemmed bower I’ve drowsed away your Sultan’s golden heat. Here in my hammock, Time I’ve dreamed away For I have but to stretch a hand out, lo, I’m treading languorous shores of Yesterday, Moon-silvered deserts or the star-weird snow; I float o’er seas where ships are purple shells, / I hear the tinkle of the camel bells / That waft down Cairo’s streets when dawn winds blow. South Seas! I watch when dusky twilight comes Making vague gods of ancient, sea-set trees. / The world path beckons – loud the mystic drums – Here at my hand the magic golden keys / That fit the doors of Romance, / Wonder, / strange / Dim gossamer adventures; seas and stars. Why, I have roamed the far Moon Mountain range When sunset minted gold in shimmering bars. / All eager eyed I’ve sailed from ports of Spain / And watched the flashing topaz of the Main / When dawn was flinging witch fire on the spars. / I am content in dreams to roam my fill / The vagrant, drifting sport of wind and tide, / Slave of the greater freedom, venture’s thrill; / Here every magic ship on which I ride. Gold, green, blue, red, a priceless treasure trove, More wealth than ever pirate dared to dream. / My hammock swings – about the world I rove. / The sunset’s dusk, the dawning’s glide and gleam, Moon-dappled leaves are murmuring in the wind Which whispers tales. Lo, Tyre is just behind, Through seas of dawn I sail, / Romance abeam.” ~ by Robert Ervin Howard My images do not belong to the public domain and may not be reproduced in any manner whatsover without my express written authorization. / Copyright © Sharon Mau 2009 / All Rights Reserved Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi / 25 December 2008 19:25:33 / Tv Shutter Speed 1/250 / Av Aperture Value 10.0 / ISO 100 / Lens EF28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM / Focal Length 28.0 mm Currently with 995 Views and 1 Sale

  • Like the song ….A macro shot of a piece of ice from my roof last winter,I was so surprised how the sun came out.I was holding the piece of ice in front of the sun…just experimenting the effects it will make.I thought it was to overexposed so I only added a blue tone, that’s it…. / /

  • Here’s my oldest boy paddling out just like me to watch the sunset after a very hot summer’s day. And yes, here I’m also in the water after him with the camera! / It’s similar to ‘My sunset’ but I wanted to share this one also :o) Nikon D200 / 18-200mm lens / processed in RAW with only the contrast and colour slightly upped, the rest is all real! No photoshop as I have already been asked.

  • I love sun rays and yesterday the clouds arrived so I decided to burn my retina and shoot towards the sun. Nikon D40 18-55mm with circular polarising filter. Artistic filter add in PSP as there was slight pixalation which I wanted to get rid of!

  • Rota Island – August 2009 / straight out of the camera / Life on this island is friendly and unhurried and the hospitality is as unforgettable as the magical sunsets. Rota Island is a natural playground with around 3000 inhabitants and is known by many to be Micronesia’s best-kept secret / Rota (Chamoru: Luta) also known as the “peaceful island”, is the southernmost island of the United States Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) and the second southernmost of the Marianas Archipelago. It lies approximately 40 miles north-northeast of the United States territory of Guam. Songsong village is the largest and most populated followed by Sinapalo village (Sinapalu). In 1521, the first European to see Rota, was the lookout on Magellan’s ship Victoria, Lope Navarro. However, Magellan’s Armada of three ships didn’t stop until they reached Guam, so the first European to arrive in Rota (in 1524), was Spanish navigator Juan Sebastian Elcano, who annexed it together with the rest of the Marianas Archipelago on behalf of the Crown of Spain. • As I was painting this abstract, I pondered the many meanings to the word “approach”...for example there is…. / The simple act of drawing near…. / A way, passage, or avenue by which a place or buildings can be approached; an access. / The temporal property of becoming nearer in time..e.g. “the approach of winter” / The final path followed by an aircraft as it is landing… / My painting is mainly concerned with the last two…I wanted to evoke both meanings of the word…it is the final curtain of autumn and winter is fast approaching..pockets of red and orange gleam here and there, as autumn stubbornly defies the chill, but at night the icy fingers of winter touches everything with frost..in the countryside snow drifts casually down, as if refusing to admit it’s here for good…another look at the painting evokes the final approach to land…stars twinkle in the night sky, the land shows the last vestiges of fall and the approach of winter….we are excited, relieved to have made it home safely once more... Watercolour on Aquaboard The half-stripped trees / struck by a wind together, / bending all, / the leaves flutter drily / and refuse to let go / or driven like hail / stream bitterly out to one side / and fall / where the salvias, hard carmine— / like no leaf that ever was— / edge the bare garden.
