I saw this woman as i wandered through a Rwandan hospital. There, in the stark hospital room, she sat admiring this tiny creature with such love and gentleness. Her contentment of knowing that this tiny baby was hers. / I could not resist but to capture it.

This guy was pretty cool, sitting there minding his own business, and I just had to get the shot. But as I lifted the camera and looked through the lens he just broke into this mean stare into the lens like he was gonna hurt me. I saw it and quickly pressed the shutter. Later I complimented him on his tattoos and showed him the shot and it was then that his frown turned into a broad grin…phew!

Sorry to all those who don’t like “pets and babies” photos… ;) This is my kitty trying to catch a fly on the window last night… The sun was coming down into our living room which gave that nice glow on one side of his face. I was originally going to make it all black & white but I just couldn’t bring myself to leave his gorgeous blue eye out! Update 22/03/2009: / Thanks to all your comments this photo is now on page #1 of the “most popular pictures of all times”! 3.14159 out of 10 I’ve temporarily re-cropped this to more closely fit the template for the challenge. After the challenge is over I’ll be restoring it to its full size as I prefer it like that. / Here is what it should look like when I restore it to it’s original size: For the Happy challenge (whoo, I won!). Stefan Sagmeister is asking people to rate their happiness from 1 to 10, and create a portrait that illustrates this. A selection of works will be included in his upcoming “Happy Film”. I’m baffled by this number system, but I’ve given myself a 3. Although I suppose at any given moment I may be anywhere between a 1 and a 10, I figure I should average it out a bit.
