For career luck, hang up a print of’100’s of Birds’ in the office or at home to assist in bringing in lots of opportunities. Have the birds flying into the house, not flying out the door. These birds would be well placed in the North for career luck. The silver birds symbolise metal, and the sky, water. In the cycle of elements, metal produces water… Very auspicious indeed!

Can anything represent diversity better?
Oil on canvas. An earlier work, and a borrowed image. Consider it as an homage to Botticelli.
been reading about tribal child raising and the benefits, and we know I like birds… I began this art as abstract patterns, bubbles of pattern that transformed when I realised by putting a ‘fork in the road’ to the concentric circles, that I created an eye and beak. Before that, it could’ve been shown either way up. also, it transformed from earthy brown colours, to a colourful bird. ‘Is it art? ‘my teacher used to always question. He’s not here now. He’s just asking the question still! in my head! I like it-it’s bright, colouful and alive.

Bluegirl; she started a revival in my work. I am proud of her. It had been a while (years) since I’d produced anything, anything I was proud of. Working on her was akin to coaxing a fossil from the ground. Where an archaeologist might use a soft brush, my conté smoothed the paper away from her. Revealing her curve – her shape – her mood. Working as I do, on a flat table, walking circles around the work, conversing with it, singing to it (she likes Led Zeppelin); often with my face millimetres from the page, I can say I know her well. Very well. I hope you enjoy her company also.

Uluru, (Ayres Rock) stands proud in the middle of the Australian Desert with its brilliant red earth. The rock dates back 500 million years. The Australian landscape is such an inspiration. Oil Pastel And Acrylic (With minor digital enhancements) Here’s Ophelia all dressed up for a party that she’s hosting! A party that celebrates all that life has to offer, both the good and not so good :D She’s wearing her new flower feather clips and a ribbon belt to adorn her waist. All who read this will be invited! A belief that Life is to be celebrated, not just the ups but the downs too. It is easier to give thanks and rejoice when things go well for us but can we still do the same when things dont turn out the way we want them to? In dry or in bountiful times, I keep reminding myself to count my blessings…to adopt the mindset of abundance and not of scacity. In fact, everyday can be a celebration of life…just take a few moments..and you will find that you are “richer” than you think you are :D You can view and buy my other “Celebration Of Life” products at my Zazzle Gallery:

Oil on Canvas / 12×12 inches “The empty nest is often interpreted as a dreaded event filled with emptiness and loss, however I believe it can be an exciting time of new beginnings, both bittersweet and celebratory.”

Water color Painting on 140lb Montval paper. / Most of the background of water here was accomplished with wet on wet, adding and moving the colors. The beak was started with a solid orange that settled adding touches of green and I used a wet brush to bring the light spots back out after it was completely dry. Most of the darker areas on the beak were dry brush and then lightly bled. The photo for this painting was taken at Jack London Square in Oakland, CA. As this egret settled in to finding a good spot to fish, he gathered a crowd. We all watched for almost 20 minutes as he caught a days worth of fish. Just enough for lunch, I’m sure he planned to return later that day for the evening show. I’m glad we got front row seating so I could get a few great shots. /

/ In my goal to portray women in all guises and emotions, here is the latetst addition to the collection..”The Temptation”....we all know what the feeling…temptation comes in many disguises…is she the temptress, or has she been tempted?make of her what you will… / When I was halfway through painting it, I remembered a picture I had seen in a magazine advertising lipstick….the model had her fingers on the open lips…. I thought they would be a perfect addititon to the painting, but I needed to see them again, just to be sure…. I frantically dug through my recycling bin (luckily we are having a garbage strike and everthing is still here) and found the picture…..the fingers were just what I needed…it was apparent that the picture had been buried in my subconscious, just waiting to emerge in this painting….I made the modifications to the image and here it is Acrylic and watercolour on Fabriano Paper.. 613 views…33 Favouritings..
