100% Watercolour on Arches 300gsm, full sheet. I stretched the paper using a staple gun, a method i have been experimenting with. The stretching was essential for this painting due to the vast amount of water and layers of glazes – probably about 20 layers. Original sold May, 2008

These autumn colours and reflections were taken at Oakbank, Adelaide Hills, South Australia, Australia, in autumn (obviously). I used a Canon DSLR EOS 350D on a tripod. This is an HDR shot. I used 3 shots merged together with Photomatix Pro. This was details enhanced.

On a visit to the Jardin Botanique in Montreal I was captivated by the Chinese Garden. Various ponds and streams had huge floating islands of lily pads. But it was not until I rested that I discovered these two lily pads and the reflections, just over the side of the bench I was sitting on. Taken in macro mode. Nikon D40, 18-55mm lens. “Life is not merely a series of meaningless accidents or coincidences, but rather it is a tapestry of acts that culminate in an exquisite, sublime plan.” -from the movie Serendipity Featured in the Natural Color and Light group February 2009 / Avatar for Nirvana group December 2008 / Featured in the Abstracts From Nature group July 2008.

Vincent’s Cat Recently I’ve been looking at Vincent Van Gogh’s paintings. I love his irises and wanted to paint some myself. Their complicated forms and brilliant deep blues captivated me. As some of you may know I have a fondness for cats. During my life I have had two exceptional ginger cats ‘Victor’ and ‘Mittens’ who were very dear to me; this is dedicated to their memory. by BigDBest View Larger Feature in All Countries ~ Wetlands, Ponds, Lakes and Rivers group. / Feature in JPG Cast-Offs group. I love this place as a young boy because I grew up here. Us boys used to walked several several miles just to swim at this pond before it was develop. This was taken on 10/14/2008 in the morning. The place is in the village of Potterville, PA. My camera was a Rebel XTi with a Sigma 17-70mm lens and a circular polarizer. Other equipment was a tripod and calbe release. Edited in HDR software. Click view larger to really see the beauty. / /

This is an old infrared shot. I’ve been doing lots of portraits lately and haven’t had the opportunity to shoot much infrared . I found this one on the hard drive and had a little play with it. It was taken at a place called Little Pelican, down near Swansea. It’s part of Lake Macquarie.

I found yesterday from the garden from the blueberry bush the colours of the autumn and I think to try again something new. This is first experiment with the texture .
