Oil on canvas. Size 15”1/2×19”1/2 / It’s a self-portrait, I painted in 1996. I tried to imagine how I look in 30 years. / Some friends say I painted my soul…................ “Me and my Straw Hat” was featured in the group: 1 on 1: The Fine Art of Portraiture. In the group “oil painting” this painting won 10th place in the challenge “portrait”.

Oil Pastel and Acrylic Ophelia dreamed she was on a journey to a foreign land. In that land, she encountered an exotic purple flower with 3 petals. Though strange in appearance,it had the most calming and relaxing scent Ophelia has ever known. Ophelia was most reluctant to leave this flower and its’ scent when she knew her dream odyssey had to come to an end soon. I painted this over the past two days. Size, 30×40” or 101.6×76.2cm. / Predominantly an acrylic on canvas. Over the recent weeks I am enjoying painting more than ever, I think its because I have finally let go of the outcome and instead enjoy the process more. Thanks to the many talented members of RedBubble, identified this as a Earthstar Fungi. Shot in Surburban Noosa Heads area. Measures about 1cm diameter, 3cm petal base. The inside was a fine powder, and very little of it, mostly air, similar to the little ball mushroom you get in the lawn sometimes. Star-like petals on the base. A tiny root system attatches itself to rotting wood. It’s been very very wet in the area lately, so might be something that sat dormant for a long time. Canon 50D, 800mm (400mm + 2 x Tamron). Night shot, no flash, but used a natural light LED to “paint” the subject over a 30 second exposure. Photo is as is from the camera, besides a light crop. Available Large, and Best viewed large!
