views: 3424 / favs: 51 Completed 2004 age 18 I was inspired by the Japanese artist Hiroshi Senju, who tends to limit his colors in his paintings. Sometimes he paints an image where the background is the complimentary colors of the subject. His style is simple but at the same time intense, where the foreground stands out from the complimentary background. Medium: Watercolors This is a painting done in my sketchbook. The paper isn’t watercolor paper, but at least more durable than regular printing paper. I have her on a black tshirt under the name ‘Little Kimino Blue’ but she isn’t actually wearing a kimono, although she wears an obi…...Asia Blue is wearing a mixed costume, half chinese half japanese…...so I will just call her ‘Asia Blue’ for ease ….as there has been quite a bit of confusion over this :) I wanted to have ‘Asia Blue’ on other coloured tshirts, as well as the black, so here she is, more coming soon !

Finally I got out amongst the autumn trees today with two of my photography students. Plus I had a little time myself to shoot some of the trees in Yoyogi Park on what was a beautiful day with gorgeous light. This pic is currently in the ‘Zen’ competition at JPEG magazine. What you see here is one of several works of art to be posted over the next seven days – the results of a seven day smackdown between myself, and the fabulous Angi Sullins and Silas Toball – where Angi made a traditional collage, and then gave it to Silas and I, letting us loose on it with our photoshop skills. :) For this one – I was really draw to one element in particular, in the original collage. Some orange detailing that made me think of goldfish, or koi. I couldn’t get the image out of my head… no matter that the whole focus of the original collage was BUNNIES! LOL So, instead of following the white rabbit, and dove into the lily pond with the fishies. Here is the original collage: (TO BE POSTED MOMENTARILY)
