This was taken at the 7000 foot level South West of Mount Lassen in North Eastern CA in August of 2007; I wanted to try something a bit different and my love for “The Blues” just took over. I love the different layers you can see from up that high. And believe me being up there is a “natural high”!

Superb views extend as far as the summits of the Vosges Mountains in France and the Black Forest in Germany. The Great Aletsch Glacier, at 22 km the longest ice-stream in the Alps, begins on the Jungfraujoch-Top of Europe.

Background Information: / Peyto Lake is a glacier-fed lake located in Banff National Park in the Canadian Rockies. The lake itself is easily accessed from the Icefields Parkway. It was named for Ebenezer William Peyto, an early trail guide and trapper in the Banff area. The lake is formed in a valley of the Waputik Range, between Caldron Peak, Peyto Peak and Mount Jimmy Simpson, at an elevation of 1,860 m (6,100 ft). During the summer, significant amounts of glacial rock flour flow into the lake, and these suspended rock particles give the lake a bright, turquoise color. Because of its bright color, photos of the lake often appear in illustrated books, and area around the lake is a popular sightseeing spot for tourists in the park. The lake is best seen from Bow Summit, the highest point on the Icefield Parkway. I began to climb when we got the region..And then, I climbed around 5000 ft.. Then the mist began.. So I had to stop climbing cause it was getting risky and I dont like making mistakes “in purpose”.. I waited around 10 mins but saw the mist was coming up on me.. So I gave up and decided to go back down.. :)) This time it didnt want me to climb.. So I got back and after 5 mins, storm began with the wind.. :(( (anyways, I did the right ) / In this week we will try again and again… Although we get the forecast from the satellite, it doesnt somehow match (or it changes too fast) :)) I keep posting them in serie :) / This one is one of the first shots when I got to region.. / Well I keep trying :)) TAke Care All :)) / Region Arhavi -TURKEY

Lover’s Key is a small group of mangrove islands located in Lee County between Ft. Myers Beach, Fl, and Bonita Beach. It’s right on the Gulf of Mexico. The islands are collectively known as Lover’s Key State Park (formerly Carl E. Johnson Park). Inland backwaters full of fish, birds, and marine life, separate the islands from each other. Boats with motors are not allowed within the Park, but motorboats are allowed in the Gulf and Bay waters surrounding the Park, and there is a boat ramp within the park. This is to protect the abundant wildlife, which includes -manatees, dolphins, various herons and roseate spoonbills, ospreys, bald eagles, raccoons, rabbits, squirrels, snook, mullet, rays, and a large variety of shellfish. a real friend is someone who takes a winter vacation on a sun-drenched beach and does not send a card —Farmer’s Almanac

3200 ISO is a brave new world for me. As a self confessed low ISO junkie, one who used Ektar 25 film whenever and wherever he could for many years because I wanted tight grain, the tighter the better, I would pull out all the stops I could to use that amazing ISO 25 film! For sure I’d never gone above ISO 1000 and then only to shoot indoor sporting events. Low ISO was(?) a hang-up for me! But I wanted to try astral photography and high ISO can get you there! However as we all know high ISO leads to increased noise which is something fairly new to me. You can use software and Photoshop plugins but I’ve been considering, one way to control noise would be to minimize or eliminate it by keeping the ISO as low as possible and that’s one way I‘m leaning. So in that regard it looks like a fast 50 prime is in order! It’s fun to be experimenting and learning, eh! This is a shot I took after shooting One Night Under the Milky Way I brought the ISO down from 3200 to 100 of course I had to compensate by opening up the shutter for a longer period! That night, Monday July 20, 2009, I was out about 3 hours and I could see this bright object just above the horizon to my left and in what must have been about a 2 hour duration is had only traveled about 15 or 20 degrees in the sky. I’m not completely sure but I think it is the International Space Station and that night it had the Space Shuttle docked to it! Great Smoky Mountains National Park has water falls in many places. When its hot, people head for the hills of the Smokies. / Cool breezes and water. Swimming, fishing, hiking, and driving trails near by. Shop till you drop in Gatlinburg, and walk your dog if he is well behaved. All kinds of things to do and see, good old Tennessee. Piegon Forge is nearby, I know you like to eat, well I couldn’t name them all. Make fun at the way people talk, come on down yeu all. Maybe you haven’t been here yet, watch out for those curvey roads. One of the most visited parks in the good old USA. GSMNP has a tremendous diversity of plant life. Many people document it or just enjoy it. Rhododendron in bloom around the falls, this gorgous shrub is easily seen because it grows well on exposed ridges at 3,000 to 6,000 feet elevation. They grow 8-12 ft. high.and one of the first I added to my garden, along with the natural ones in the woods.
