  • Yesterday’s rain in our catchment area, southwest of Sydney. A storm rolls in to add to an already healthy water level. Taken from the Burragorang Lookout – if you ever need to escape the rat race for a few hours, head out to this spot – details below. / Exploration of the Burragorang Valley commenced in 1802 and the first bridle track followed to explorers’ trail. A zig Zag road up the mountain started as a track for horses and bullocks but later made a wagon road although it was very steep. The valley became a popluar tourist destination and featured many guesthouses. Completion of Warragamba Dam flooded the valley and residents were moved into the neighbouring towns. From Nattai township, the road leads to the Burragorang Lookout. From this point, visitors can enjoy the spectacular view of the valley, now Lake Burragorang. / Height above sea level: 500 metres. / Wood BBQ’s are available, toilets, Picnic tables, playground and water. / Landscapes Trees Cards EOD Rusty Flowers Architecture Macro CatchAll DM

  • Blossom’s_Photo_Gallery The Road to Carnarvon National Park Central Highlands, Outback Queensland, Australia. ================================================ / Winning Entry and Featured in Country_Roads_Around_the_World Endless_Roads_Endless_Roads_Blue_Skies_Clouds Challenge – 3rd February 2009. / Avatar for Country_Roads_Around_the_World / - February 2009. ================================================ / Carnarvon Gorge is between Roma and Emerald. The rugged 16,000ha Carnarvon Gorge section of Carnarvon National Park is the most popular destination in Queensland’s central highlands. Remnant rainforest flourishes in the sheltered side-gorges while endemic cabbage tree palms Livistona nitida, ancient cycads, ferns, flowering shrubs and gum trees line the meandering main gorge. Grassy open forest grows on the cliff tops. The park’s creeks attract a wide variety of animals including more than 173 species of birds. Aboriginal rock art on sandstone overhangs is a fragile reminder of Aboriginal people’s long and continuing connection with the gorge. Some of the finest Aboriginal rock art in Australia, including ochre stencils, rock engravings and freehand paintings, can be seen at Baloon Cave, the Art Gallery and Cathedral Cave. • Blossom’s_Photo_Gallery The Magic of the Forest Floor Goblin Forest Walk, The Blue Tier, North East Highlands National Park, Tasmania, Australia. As Is – Straight from the Camera The_Blue_Tier The Blue Tier has been the home to thousands of people who have lived, worked and died on the mountain. Tin was the reason the early pioneers came here. The tin lay in heaps behind rocks and in the creek and river beds. All the miners had to do was bag the ore up. / In their search for the tin-bearing rock, these early pioneers burnt most of the temperate rainforest which existed above the 600 metre level. When the mines were finished, the farmers over-grazed the grass areas which followed the burning, eventually the mosses took over. / Since the last grazing, around 1970, the mountain and its native animals have been successful in aiding the regeneration of the temperate rainforest. What you see today is the continuing struggle of the rainforest trying to return. / To appreciate the extent of the regeneration it is necessary to visit the various areas by following the well-defined walking tracks on the mountain. There are bogs, grassland, pure rainforest, regenerated rainforest, tea-tree swamps and areas dominated by celery top pine. Canon PowerShot A650 IS Shutter Speed: 1/60sec / Aperture: F4.8 / ISO: 320
