A belated description. / This is an ode to unhealthy relationships. Not the ones where you have an argument every once in a while, or maybe lots of little ones all over the place, but otherwise everything is peachy keen. This is to the other kind, even or uneven, where one or the other has to protect themselves, in all kinds of ways. Do they stay and learn how to take it, or protect themselves better? Or do they lose everything except their freedom and fly away? I have placed the ‘fight’ bride in a small area that is cramped and hard to breathe, holding her dress and hair up as a barrier. Whereas our ‘flight’ bride has lots of space to move, is making herself free of the confines of the dress, taking down the barrier. Summer Breeze a beautiful poem by the same title by a dear friend of mine Anne Van Alkemade / Inspired by the song Summer Breeze / by Seals and Croft Also inspired by myself and my experience of having bugs and insects come to try and take up residence in my ears… scrabbling around in there, getting all comfy…while I’m going crazy…click beetles, houseflies and spiders so far have all tried this… lol This is a girl who has an affinity with nature, and as the summer breezes begin to blow here in Australia…....the animals are drawn to live in her hair thinking that it must be branches of a tree… yes, my hair’s that dry… :) I thought it a fitting one for summer, hope you like her… Pencil drawing took me about 3 hours / Digital colouring – 10 hours / Total time 13 hours
