  • this is one of a series of three. This one is for a commission. Knowing a little about the person, besides knowing he likes red, and abstract, and loads of texture, he’s also gone through big change in his life (new business, going well, old relationship ended) One of the things he loves in his business is seeing a ‘situation’ and cleaning it up to be fresh, sparkling and better than expected. Bearing this in mind, the surface of the canvas was highly textured. There is loads of ‘chaos’ that is steam rolled through, leaving a shining path. It is a visual reminded of his efforts of the day, and the mark he leaves on the world. It is vision of happiness, a job well done, a tribute to freedom and moving forward. I have amped up the colour so it looks great in print.

  • Amazingly there are 20 species of Magpie in the world. Not quite sure which I have painted here… looks more like an Australian magpie Many people consider them superstitious, they certainly have their place in folklore, some believe they bring good luck, others believe bad. I remember being played Rossini’s Thriving Magpie when I was quite young; it is said they have a panache for shiny, silvery things which they like to steal and hide. / Here the magpie has found a key! I wonder where it came from? I see him as a ‘Keeper of Secrets’. / The selected text comes from a traditional rhyme I was told as a child: One for sorrow, Two for joy, / Three for a girl, Four for a boy, / Five for Silver, Six for Gold / Seven for a secret never to be told This is an acrylic painting on canvas.

  • GOOD FRIDAY MAMMATUS / Photo best viewed large. / / / / / / FEATURED WORKS / “GOOD FRIDAY MAMMATUS” was FEATURED in the group #1 ARTISTS OF RED BUBBLE / / / I took this photo of Mammatus on a Good Friday before Easter in Ashland, Kentucky. The clouds first started rolling in and looked like fluffy white marshmallows. Then in front of the setting sun they dramatically began to change colors. They went from snow white to shades of silvers, pinks, grays, blues and even purples! The colors were quite striking and dramatic; these clouds were nothing like anything I had ever seen before! For a few minutes they turned very dark, and it was a sight I will never forget!! These amazing mammatus clouds lasted about 45 minutes before they exited my area. / / / We were under our second tornado watch of the year, and I found out later that I was standing right under the anvil of a severe thunderhead and that a tornado could have formed at any moment! Luckily for me it didn’t, and I was able to capture some phenomenal, amazing clouds. I can’t quite put it into words other than to say, “I closed my eyes for a few seconds and felt like I had been kissed on my cheek by an angel.” This was one time in my life that I will always remember!!! / / / This photograph of “GOOD FRIDAY MAMMATUS” has won National awards, been published in an Anthology, and has been shown on National television. This image is also featured in several websites and blogs throughout the USA and Australia for educational purposes. / / /

  • Sometimes an image just makes you feel good!! / This was inspired by a song by Nektar / Good Day / I looked into the morning / What did I see? / A face, another place / another way to be free / So I took one big step / with my hand on my eyes / and hoped that my mind / would be satisfied. I wish you Good day / I wish you Good day. I just took one step / when a voice did prevail / If you come any closer / you’ll wish you had stayed. / The voice that I heard / didn’t do me no good / Cos’ I stepped out too far / now the world knows I should. I wish you Good day / I wish you Good day. Good day my people / Good day to you now, / I’m gonna leave you forever / Good day, Good day. /

  • Blue and Gold Macaw grooming his feathers… These majestic birds are not only beautiful, but very intelligent! More details about thes large parrots below: BEHAVIOR: Blue and Gold Macaws are generally seen in pairs but may congregate with others to form flocks of up to 30 birds. Paired birds fly close together with their wings almost touching. They undertake conspicuous daily flights from their roosting sites to scattered feeding grounds, but return to the roosting trees just before sunset by flying high above the forest canopy. Blue and Gold Macaws are extremely wary; and, at the slightest sign of danger, will rise into the air screeching loudly. Blue and Gold Macaws are extremely intelligent and adaptable and can be taught to do tricks as well as to mimic words. They are very expressive and will show their emotions or intentions by cocking their heads, vocalizing, flashing their eyes (voluntary constriction of the pupils), and blushing. They also use fluffing of the feathers, raising the wings, prancing, bowing, shaking their tail feathers, and head bobbing as forms of communication. STATUS: Blue and Gold Macaws are the most popular and readily available of the macaws. They are prized for their beauty and personality and make excellent pets for adults but require a tremendous amount of time. Blue and Gold Macaws are listed on CITES Appendix 2 indicating they may become rare or endangered if trade is not regulated. FOLKLORE AND MYTHS: It is a common myth that macaws will live 75 to 100 years, however, macaws are not as long lived as cockatoos. Their lifespan is typically up to 50 years with breeding age being up to approximately 30-35 years. A 40-year-old macaw shows definite signs of aging, and a 50-year-old macaw is very old By: / Terri~Lynn
