Took this a couple of weeks ago of my little girl at the beach and realised it’s potential this morning when I started to play with the colour, light and layers so of course I though that I would share!

Bluegirl; she started a revival in my work. I am proud of her. It had been a while (years) since I’d produced anything, anything I was proud of. Working on her was akin to coaxing a fossil from the ground. Where an archaeologist might use a soft brush, my conté smoothed the paper away from her. Revealing her curve – her shape – her mood. Working as I do, on a flat table, walking circles around the work, conversing with it, singing to it (she likes Led Zeppelin); often with my face millimetres from the page, I can say I know her well. Very well. I hope you enjoy her company also.

Oil Pastel And Acrylic (With minor digital enhancements) Here’s Ophelia all dressed up for a party that she’s hosting! A party that celebrates all that life has to offer,both the good and not so good :D She’s wearing her new flower feather clips and a ribbon belt to adorn her waist. All who read this will be invited! A belief that Life is to be celebrated, not just the ups but the downs too. It is easier to give thanks and rejoice when things go well for us but can we still do the same when things dont turn out the way we want them to? In dry or in bountiful times, I keep reminding myself to count my blessings…to adopt the mindset of abundance and not of scacity. In this design I was playing around with the concept of how people judge one another. I chose to do this in a paint-by-numbers style so that at first glance, people have no choice but to judge where which colors go. The purpose of which is to prove them wrong. / I tried this on several people, most of which assumed she had a pink shirt and blue eyes and blond hair, which is partially right, but not quite. / A person has to get to know this shirt before they realize she has pink and blue hair. At which point, they know her true colors. / This shirt is a physical representation of the personal judgments we make on others, especially those who appear different. / In my goal to portray women in all guises and emotions, here is the latetst addition to the collection..”The Temptation”....we all know what the feeling…temptation comes in many disguises…is she the temptress, or has she been tempted?make of her what you will… / When I was halfway through painting it, I remembered a picture I had seen in a magazine advertising lipstick….the model had her fingers on the open lips…. I thought they would be a perfect addititon to the painting, but I needed to see them again, just to be sure…. I frantically dug through my recycling bin (luckily we are having a garbage strike and everthing is still here) and found the picture…..the fingers were just what I needed…it was apparent that the picture had been buried in my subconscious, just waiting to emerge in this painting….I made the modifications to the image and here it is Acrylic and watercolour on Fabriano Paper..
