Announcing a new Photo Competition. The theme is “Once in a Blue Moon” / Deadline February 28, 2008 You don’t need to have a blue moon in your entry. I am looking more at the phrase “Once in a Blue Moon”, meaning something that doesn’t happen very often (if ever). For example, pigs flying, snow in Los Angeles etc. This is wide open for your imagination. / Requirements: The entries must have been worked on in Photoshop only. No other editing or specialty programs are allowed. See the rules below. / The artwork must be brand new artwork. The purpose of this competition is to encourage people to go out and create something new and different in Photoshop. / Snowdog (winner of last years Blue Moon Photo Comp) and Deon de Waal have graciously volunteered to help me judge this contest. Thanks guys. / Prizes are: / 1st: Red Bubble Gift certificate for $100.00 USD / 2nd: Red Bubble Gift certificate for $ 50.00 USD / 3rd: Red Bubble Gift certificate for $ 25.00 USD / I am working on some additional goodies for the winners (TBA) 2 Honorary awards will each receive a $10.00 Red Bubble Gift certificate (USD) The rules must be strictly adhered to. Failure to do so will mean elimination from the contest. 1. One entry per person. More than one entry means disqualification. 2. Put “oncebluecomp” in your tag line. If you don’t have it in your tagline, you are not entered. 3. Artwork must be completed in 2008 (brand new artwork). 4. Photoshop only. No other editing or specialty program can be used. Photoshop plug-ins from different vendors are allowed. 5. If you use any stock photos in your artwork, you must give the photographer or stock photo company, credit. 6. Collaborations are allowed. I can split the gift certificates if need be. 7. You can change or alter your entry up until Feb. 28, 2008 as long as you stick to the 1 entry per person rule. The Dreamer's On The Way To Belgium! :D
by udonchow!http://images-1.redbubble.net/img/art/framecolor:black/framestyle:box20/mattecolor:black/product:framed-print/size:small/view:preview/13…
Thank you so much to all my fellow bubblers’ well wishes with regards to my joint exhibition show :D I’m most happy to update you with the news that The Dreamer was sold yesterday to a Belgian(they are called Belgians right?) customer! I was down at the show yesterday….just to see how things were and of cos I dont deny the fact that I hope to meet someone who will love my work enough to buy….so I went around looking at others’ works…then I came to my own…and I saw 3 men looking at my owls :D So I mustered enough courage to introduce myself as the one behind the owls…so to cut the whole story short, one of the men said his mum is a super fervent owl lover and he’s looking for a birthday present for his mum! I couldnt believe my ears and my heart was just leaping with joy! So now The Dreamer is going to reside in some part of Belgium and in the loving hands of a fellow owl lover! :D I brought my cam along and wanted to take a shot with this customer…and guess what..no SD card inside, I left it in the laptop, so no pics to show here today. He did get his friend to take a pic of us so I really hope he remembers to email me :D The painting looks exactly like the framed print above…black frame with black board within :D Happy happy! Another 7 days before the show closes :D “The Dreamer” is also available in many other products in my Zazzle Gallery :D

Meet Little Lost Orca and Migaloo
by Karin TaylorMIGALOOMAGIC is my new concept gallery at Red Bubble…below are the very first offerings!...
MIGALOOMAGIC is my new concept gallery at Red Bubble…below are the very first offerings! My Definition of Magic / Adjective – Wonderful, amazing or incredible, ie as in ‘a magic moment’ I think it’s very important to define magic, as for some people this is a stumbling block and something that conjures up images of black magic, darkness, and other practices which i don’t subscribe to… for the record I’m a christian who doesn’t head to sunday services each week, although i have spent most of my life doing that, it’s not where I am at this stage of the journey….and I’m not a perfect one by any means, I’m quite an unusual one by christian standards, and many feel i don’t meet the standards, but that’s ok…God and I are like this :D we’re tight, so it doesn’t matter what others think on that score…and I guess it’s unusual for me to use the word ‘magic’ when ‘magic practices’ are forbidden in the bible… but it is the where I am coming from that matters to God…He knows I don’t mean it in that way…so already, i apologise to any who may find it offensive or inconsistent, but I intend to keep the name as to me it only implies magic in this case as “wonderful, amazing or incredible, as in a magic moment”. / migaloo-pink-magic / / migaloo-blue-magic / migaloo-in-antarctica / little-lost-orca / rainbow-orcas / little-lost-orca tshirt / Moo Cow Sunrise / Little Moo I’ve been busy with a new concept…. / I wanted to bring parents something special to help them connect with their children… / I am busy creating a series of digital wall art, especially for children…for their bedrooms. My new gallery on Red Bubble is called migaloomagic / So far, I have created six conceptual pieces of art over there….but I am excited to show you anyway!! This is a gallery which I hope will provide gifts for children, for their bedrooms, for their birthdays…...I hope that it will bring parents closer to their children by helping them remember to tell their children stories, you know – the old fashioned kind of stories….the ones you just make up on the spot….. When the kids say….’tell us a story mum/dad/aunty/uncle/guardian/carer” i hope that you as a parent will gain an inspirational thought or two, from glancing up on the wall and seeing these whales or some other little idea from my artwork…to help you along :D Hugs to all, / Karin :D

Bermagui Seaside Fair 2007

By Darren Stones – Freelance Photojournalist / Subscribe via RSS/Atom Bermagui Seaside Fair 2007 – Blog version with accompanying photographs and music video Note: Photographs relating to this article can be found here. Horseshoe Bay – Bermagui The 10th Bermagui Seaside Fair was held on Saturday 10 March 2007 and what a spectacular event it turned out to be. Thousands of locals from the region were proud as punch to partake and witness a fun-filled day of activities. Festivities commenced on the main wharf at the Bermagui Boat Harbour at 8am with the Blessing of the Fleet ceremony. Bishop Allan Ewing conducted the blessing and also addressed the gathering of locals regarding their continued dedication in making the annual festival a continued success. During the ceremony, the dapper dressed gentlemen from the Bermagui Probus Club Men’s Choir sang hymns, and other local singers and musicians performed. The majority of events were conducted at the Dickinson Oval precinct and a large crowd attended. Bermagui Seaside Fair announcer, June Tarlinton, said “They estimate there will be around 10,000 people and judging from what I’m seeing, I wouldn’t be surprised if they are fairly close to the mark.” “The street parade is extremely popular,” said June when referring to the amount of participants and spectators. “The Bega Vintage Car Club has forty cars involved this year and they’ve never had this many ever. The way the cars have been restored is awesome.” As part of the fair each year the Bermagui Citizen of the Year is announced. This year’s recipient of the award was Candy Craine, who was recognised for her tireless work in caring for sick and injured native animals on her property. June Tarlinton said “Candi Craine was nominated by persons within the community and she was a very worthy recipient of the award.” “She has put a lot of effort into rehabilitating animals since the loss of her husband.” Candi is also an avid photographer and she exhibited many of her quality wildlife photographs at the photographic exhibition at the Bermagui Country Club during the Seaside Fair. Celebrity entertainers, Frankie J Holden and Michelle Pettigrove, were invited to perform and compere the Bermagui Idols competition. The competition catered for local talent and the performers came out in droves to strut their stuff on stage for the gathered throng. Winner of the Bermagui Idol primary school age section was the highly talented nine-year-old Sophie Halliday, who performed a cover version of the song Who Knew by Pink. Judging for the competition was carried out in a novel way, and this was done by gauging the level of audience applause when each contestant’s name was announced. When Sophie’s name was announced, the applause and screaming was deafening. You could have come to the conclusion that her family in attendance numbered 500. She was undoubtedly the star of this year’s Bermagui Idol competition. Young local band, Overdrive, belted out a few tunes for the large and receptive crowd. The street parade, sponsored by Australian regional and rural broadband internet provider, activ8me, was a roaring success as it made its way along the spectator-lined one kilometre stretch of Lamont Street. The Batemans Bay Soldiers Club Pipe Band lead the colourful parade which included floats representing local schools, various community groups, the Bega Vintage Car Club, SES and Rural Fire Service, Bermagui Surf Lifesaving Club members, Bermagui CWA and street performers. Novelty events were conducted for kids, and kids at heart, with the Chuck-A-Tuna competition proving more than a handful for participants. A little bending of the rules by some was detected, however it all added to the fun and frivolity of the afternoon. Local Aboriginal dance group, Gulaga Dancers, were in attendance and performed traditional style dances for the crowd. Carnival rides, a spectacular fireworks display in the evening over Horseshoe Bay, and a sandcastle competition were also part of the day’s festivities. Dozens of stalls were erected on Dickinson Oval with stallholders exhibiting and selling local produce and products, advertising local and regional services and businesses, and supplying food and beverages for the masses. On Endeavour Point Headland, Sculpture on the Edge featured sculptures by Alan Watt, Richard Moffatt, Michael Le Grand and the provocative Melbourne sculptor Greg Taylor. Bermagui, approximate population 1120, is situated in the gorgeous Sapphire Coast region of New South Wales and is renowned as one of the best, if not the best, places for marlin fishing in Australia. It’s also home to a fishing fleet, and is close to Montague Island which hosts numerous animal species. Other local attractions in Bermagui are the scenic Horseshoe Bay, the Bermagui Boat Harbour where you can witness the unloading of the catch of the day, and the Bermagui Blue Pool. The historic Bermagui Beach Hotel exhibits fishing memorabilia in the main bar, lounge and dining areas. It’s also a top spot for a soothing ale or lemonade. Meals are hearty and excellent value for money. High quality accommodation at affordable rates is available at the Bermagui Beach Hotel and the ultra modern Harbourview Motel. Bermagui is a friendly and scenic seaside town located 378 kilometres south of Sydney, Australia. Put it on your list of must see places – it’s a gem. For anyone in the Woorim area on Sunday afternoon, it would be well worth your while to drop into Blueys pub and check out the locals day. This week promises to be one of the best so far and they have been getting better each month. A couple of new female vocalists to appear and also apparently the drummer from The / Fabulous Thunderbirds is going to play with a couple of the really good local guitarists. The day starts around 12.30 and goes thru to about 5.30, it is in the beer garden and it is a great spot to spend a Sunday arvo, kids welcome, there is a sandpit and they just love to dance, so roll up, rock on and love life. Ciao.

Guys! I had two sales of late. The snowball is rolling and the avalanche is growing! Lookout below! Yep I sold 2 shirts. This one: / I was really hoping to sell “Pawnstar” and it went yesterday. (Cheers to the buyer in the UK of all places). I dunno I just really like this one myself too so I was happy it went. I also sold: This went last week. It was my very first “Request-A-Tee” and it was the buyers whole idea. (zee1). Thanks zee1 your a top minion. I was actually pretty happy with the result. zee1 made the request and the idea just popped into my head. I just wish I could do the same with small business ideas and pick-up lines. Oh well! I have a whole bunch of stock out back in my warehouse. My favourite is this: but I haven’t managed to move any yet. There are just crates and crates of them outside collecting dust. Umm… oh yeah! these two have also been very popular: So come on into my gallery. Have a coffee and hang out for a chat. I’ll be the one in the flanny shirt or the bright yellow safety jumper.
