THE FURIES (greek mythology) But not the less did the Furies cry out against him that he was accursed and given over to them as a prey; for that they were appointed of the Gods to execute vengeance upon evil-doers, of whom he was the chief, seeing that he had slain the mother that bare him. But while they thus cried out against him, there appeared the Goddess Athené, very fair to see, with the spear of gold in her hand; and she spake, saying, “From the banks of Scamander am I come, for I heard the cry of one that called upon my name. And now I would fain know what meaneth all this that I see. Who art thou, stranger, that sittest clasping this image? And who are ye that are so strange of aspect, being like neither to the Gods nor to the daughters of men?” Then the Furies made answer, “We will tell thee the matter shortly, daughter of Zeus. We are the children of Night, and we are called the Curses, and our office is to drive the murderer from his home.” Then said the goddess, “And whither do ye drive him?” “We drive him to the land where no joy abideth.” “And why do ye pursue this man?” “Because he dared to slay his mother.” / I have done alot of Photoshop work in the past year. I took an ass kicking from my photoshop teacher Charles. And it pissed me off so much I made this. / Funny how that works. I can honestly say that this is the proudest over a peice of work I have ever been

I purchased a laminated print of this piece, and I have to tell you, the high gloss print just makes this one pop! It is so smooth and fluid. My only complaint is that everyone (with the exception of one of my neices) first comment is, “What is it?” Heck, when it first came, my husband said “What is it?” I said “An abstract” he said ”..so what is it..” We went back and forth a minute, then he finally gave me this odd look and said “People actually like this stuff?” LOL I’ve had people ask if it’s an ear, a dog’s dew claw, paint swirls, etc. I keep saying, it’s just a digitally rendered image, it’s nothing. I finally gave up and started say If that’s what you think it is, then it is. Personally, to me, it reminds me of blood cells flowing. LOL Like I said, it’s whatever you think it is! Created in Apophysis 3D hack This piece was featured in the Digital Abstracts and Patterns group, the Abstract Art group, and the main Art page. Thank You! More Fractals by Karri Klawiter “

My wings soar the heavens, / caught in the nightwind, / carried by a moonbeam, / far above the horizon. / I see the cliffs below. My eyes search the distance, / a flicker of light perhaps / will reflect off the moon to guide me / to a place where you are waiting. / I beseach the shadows below. My heart longs for your nearness, / and pounds deep within my breast, / aching from the memory of you, / the sweet scent of your essence. / Come to me from the rocks below. My wings grow weary in my flight, / my endless quest our souls to re-unite / to feel your warm sweet touch / upon my furrowed brow. / For hours I have circled the shores below. My soul cannot go on without you, / of which you are my existence, / the very air I breath, / you are the other half of me. / Without you, I will end it on the earth below. I drift in the light of the moon / and wait for you to come to me soon. © amari / ____ I created this work with a composite of several of my photographs and a fractal image created with Apophysis fractal art program. Images were overlayed using Photoshop CS3. Digitally enhanced with Photomatix HDR, edited with Photoshop CS3 and Micrografx. The original cliffs are a photograph of the cliffs in Dana Point, California. The moon was a shot taken down in Long Beach one night when the moon was low and huge. The Hawk is from the skies of San Diego. I spent many nights on the beach of Dana Point enjoying a moonlit night like this. I love the moon in the background with the Hawk sharing its light with one lone tree. Images Do Not Belong To The Public Domain. Crown Jewel ~ inspired by the Taj Mahal, which is often referred to as / ‘Poetry in Stone’ The History of Lost Love / Shah Jahan of the Mogul dynasty was yet to accede the throne when he heard about the unsurpassed beauty of Mumtaz. He took Mumtaz as his third wife in 1612. For the next 18 years Shah Jahan and Mumtaz were inseparable. Shah Jahan took his wife along on every journey and war campaign. Over the years Mumtaz came to be his best friend, his critic and a canny political adviser. Mumtaz was expecting their 14th child when Shah Jahan embarked on a campaign against the Lodhi Empire in 1631. In the heat of the Indian summer, the army traveled to the Deccans. Mumtaz, who had accompanied the emperor, went through a rigorous childbirth. She died in Burhanpur. On her deathbed, she asked her husband to promise her that he would build a monument to their love. Legend has it that he locked himself in his room for eight days without food after Mumtaz passed away. After burying Mumtaz temporarily in Burhanpur, Shah Jahan went about constructing the Taj Mahal in right earnest. He summoned the best architects and artisans from far away lands like Multan, Kannauj, Lahore, Iraq and Persia. He arranged for the best marble from all around. It took 22 years, 22,000 people, 400 elephants and 32 million rupees to build the Taj Mahal. The result: an awe-inspiring structure, which is one of the most globally recognized symbols of grace and beauty. The Magnificent Monument / Built on a raised, square platform it is as tall as a 20-storey building. You enter through an imposing gateway. The complex consists of an elaborate garden set in the typical charbagh style, a mosque, a guesthouse and several other charming buildings. The mausoleum itself stands at the farthest end of the complex, right along the Yamuna River. The signature central dome (58 ft in diameter and 213 ft high) is truly magnificent and is echoed in the smaller domed chambers on all sides. The four slender minarets that rise from the corners of the mausoleum complete the picture of symmetry. The undisputed majesty and beauty is further reflected in the exquisite artistry created by inspired artisans from Baghdad, Shiraz and Bukhara. Exquisite floral patterns and calligraphy on both the exterior and interior were inlaid with precious stones such as jasper and agate. Quotations from the Koran were etched into stone archways; a pinnacle was set on the central dome; and thus came to life the most splendid resting place a lover could ever hope to find on this planet! By Ravi Kunjithai / Beautiful intricate abstract design bursting forth in hues of light blue and gray, yellow / orange, and even a hint of rose, all interspersed with lovely metalic golds. Some nights are special. To walk free, is worth the world. Nothing above but the deep velvet sky and millions of stars, as our ancestors before us. Looking up at the same Moon as they. Some nights are pure magic – charged with something stronger than we. Soft muffled hoot of the owl, whispering leaves, growing things, the smell of damp mosses. What is life, if, full of care, / we have no time to stand and stare No time to stand beneath the boughs / And stare as long as sheep or cows. No time to see, when woods we pass, / Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass. No time to see, in broad daylight, / Streams full of stars, like skies at night. No time to turn at Beauty’s glance, / And watch her feet, how they can dance. No time to wait till her mouth can / Enrich that smile her eyes began. A poor life this if, full of care, / We have no time to stand and stare. By Wm. Henry Davies. “Leisure” / (Wm. Henry Davies (1871-1940) is to be considered as the poet of the tramps. Born at Newport, Wales in the UK, Davies came to America from Great Britain and lived the life of a vagabond. One day, as the result of jumping a train, he lost one of legs. Davies returned to England where he continued to live the life of a tramp and a pedlar. He wrote poetry (presumably he did right along) and, eventually, he determined to print his own book and did so with the little money he earned panhandling. A copy of this first work, A Soul’s Destroyer, came into the hands of George Bernard Shaw; which, in turn, led to the popularization of the poet. FE. Talis varI formula._____
