Unfortunately this is one of the areas that was affected by “Black Saturday”, I am so hoping that this little pocket of Myrlte beech forest wasnt touched by the fires. There were fires in the Blue Range, Marysville National park. The Myrtle beech trees have been around since the Jurassic period. I stood in the river with my jeans rolled up to my knees, the water had slowed nearly to a stillness as it gathered around the rocks in the water that were covered with moss, as I hit the timer button on my camera in that 10 seconds I had time to reflect on the raw beauty of this ancient forest. The forest that stood before me was thousands of years old. It was summer out beyond these beautiful old trees it was a stinking hot day, the flies stuck to my body, I found relief in the river and under the ancient old tree. Under the ancient trees it was freezing, for some strange reason it was like the middle of winter under the trees and my feet and legs were numb from the icy water that I stood in. This artwork has been featured in Yarra Valley and ranges Group and also in Crossing Streams Group. Well this one started out as a drawing of a tornado, then I started to see mechnical bits and pieces in it and then….oh well you know how it goes :) Storm Cruiser The remnants of the Bubble Clan watched awestruck near the base of, Last Stand Hill, as the Monolithic Storm Cruiser, inched its deadly way across the plane. They were not its target, for now, but they would not be able to stay here for long. The mountain ledge photon cannon, was automatically readying itself. Its threat detectors had been activated days ago when the battle tank had first appeared on their horizon. It seemed to offer little hope against the approaching monster, but it may buy them a little time. They had not expected the war. The Bubblers were a peaceful, intelligent and cooperative artistic community. They created living artworks which reflected an inner contact with the pulse of life itself. Initially they supplied the subtle sense needs of the other communities on this planet, their home, Klezz. Then as demand for their amazing works grew, news of this spread across the galaxy and soon they were trading across the divide, linking happily to other worlds, through CWT (Cosmic Wormhole Travel ) Now, paralysed with fear, Bubblers could only speculate about what had gone wrong. The CWT was supposed to filter out sentient beings of a dark and negative nature, but somehow the Kalmardans had arrived and from the safety of their giant, dark, disk-headed tyrannosaur like tanks, they crunched their way coldly and efficiently across the surface of Klezz. The cruisers had been designed with horrifying ingenuity. They created and harnessed electrical storms. The static required to fire their deadly lightning-blaster cannons was created by counter rotating successive layers of metallic disks at high speed. The air trapped in between the disks was ionised in a fraction of a second and the energy directed in concert to the unfortunates, in the designated target area. The sound alone was enough to terrify populations into submission. Should that fail, as it had in Bubble City, then the high energy bolts would cut through the toughest Bubble Domes, searching out weak points at the entrances. Kal, wiped a tear from his face and called to the others. It was time to move.

Taken at Mt Hotham in the Victorian Alps. This image has been accepted into the Al-Thani and Austrian Supercircuit international competitions and has been printed in the Austrian catalogue in 2008. and it also got a half page print in the 2008 Al Thani international competition catalogue. Nikon D50 18-200mm VR lens. HDR image made of 3 shots 2 stops apart. Tripod used because the light level was so low. The original images were partially blended back in over the HDR shot.
